I just got off the phone with TDA. There is one final migration group that is currently scheduled to start in late March 2024. So that seems like the deadline by which this needs to work.

If you only want data, that's fine. If you want to trade a different brokerage account whilst connected to that account, that's also fine.

What is dangerous is trading live using data that is not from the actual live account being traded. That's a bit like driving down a freeway in one lane, but reacting to the traffic in a different lane as if that were the lane you were in. It is very common for data from different sources to be quite different from each other, including potentially major differences in Ask/Bid/Spread.

Sadly, this danger is "baked in" to NinjaTrader because the data for any instrument comes either from the first connection that can supply it or from the preferred connection for that type of data. If you connect to more than one account and they are not all located in the exact same data source environment (i.e. different account types, different brokers, or just a "datafeed" as the data source), this means trading accounts with source data that may be significantly different from actual data for the account at its brokerage source. Even just connecting to a "datafeed only" and then connecting to one brokerage account has the same danger.

If it's the only way to do it, you can ... but BEWARE!

      Thanks.

Here's Drew's company response YESTERDAY to someone who is late to the party"

          "Hello StockJock,

          Thanks for posting.

We're still investigating this change to better understand the impact that it may have on our existing TDA users. At this time, accounts that have been moved to Schwab may not be able to connect in the NinjaTrader platform while we look into this matter. The underlying connection technology may need to be updated."

Does that sound like the corporate babble we've been hearing from NT about waiting on Schwab to make an API available to us? I think we're being fed a line of BS...
I'm closing all my brokerage accounts today.

                Thank you for the messages.

you are welcome to reach back out to TDA/Schwab and see if they can reverse the changes made to your account so that it still works on the old API. If not, you could ask them for more information on how the account could be accessed and traded until the new API has been integrated.
Seems like something NT should be doing to at least ease its lifetime license holders' frustration.

Check all the threads on this forum. Not once has NT brain trust ever said "we have a MOU with Schwab or a continuation of services contract and the new API will be ready by x date". The whole unprofessional-ism is what ticks me the most. And NT still won't take their TDA connection guide off their web site re: TDA/Schwab connections. False advertise much?

They are certainly very slow with implementation to an atrocious degree. I guess "we don't care" is their motto!

Four months of waiting for movement on this without apologies to their lifetime license holders or a completion date (if there is ever going to be a completion date). That's one thing about Trade Station- They actually place a value on customer service and don't put out beta software and let their customers do the thrown exception finding and reporting via message board. NT is a company that has not kept pace with the competition.

                        Very disappointing indeed

                              Hello,

I got this from [email protected]

Thank you for contacting Schwab Trader API. We are currently working with Ninja Trader and other commercial applications for review, approval, and integration into the Schwab Trader API endpoint. We are in the process of finalizing the documentation so we can provide this to Ninja Trader to do the technical integration into the new Schwab offering. Once they integrate into our Trader API you would be able to connect your Schwab brokerage account to their platform. There are no further updates at this time.

                                Sincerely,

                                Schwab Trader API Support
