    Hi,

Haven't received that. To me it looks like it's only displayed correctly on expiration date...?

Apart from that: Got word from Raymund@IB saying the necessary fix is "high priority" and we should await the release soon. He left my ticket open until release, so it can't be far.

I've asked about whether 887 can be continued until the fix is released; however, got no answer to that yet.

Was just wondering if those of you that are beta testing NT7 with TWS could please post some of your results (regarding the CL issue). Would be much appreciated. Thanks.

        Hello,

        just a quick update.

I have not seen the proposed feature in NT7 beta 2. can Ray or Dierk confirm that the feature is there and how to use it? If not, can you please give us an ETA?

On my previous e-mails, I checked with more recent versions of the TWS and the problem is still present. IB have changed only what is reported on the TWS as expiration date, but not on the API. For the API solution we need to wait for the new API version, which should be available soon.

        Regards,

As announced we have put in a "hack" for NT7B2 which works like this:
          - you needed to amend the IB mapping for the instrument in question
          - there is an additional field with you could read as a "expiry month offset" which applies to the offending execution and position events coming from IB API
          - we already applied that logic to the CL -> make sure you have NT7B2 installed and then do Tools->Options->Data->Reset instruments
          - you now would see in Instrument manager this for the CL: CL|<some field>|<some field>|<some field>|1, whereas the last field would be the offset. Note: <some field> might be blank or might be set for some instrument in which events you should LEAVE that field and NOT set to blank.
          - you now could tweak the mapping for other offending instruments as well

After restart you no longer should experience the issue.

Of course we still would amend our IB adapter as IB has released a working version of their API.

            Hi guys,

When I logged into TWS this morning, I noticed that D-Day (desupport-day ) for TWS v887 has been postponed by one week (now Oct 30).

This gives some more time to the IB energy traders. Also looks like IB is really close to fixing it

Anybody else having issues with the NT7 beta "bandaid fix"? I did the "reset instruments" thing, but am still only able to see a handful of bars for CL from a couple of days ago, regardless of the time frame or how many days worth of data I set it to show. Screen shot attached.

Ninja admin: Is there anything else we're supposed to do other than install NT7 beta and "reset instruments"?

I seem to have got it working. There seems to be a problem with historic data on CL from the NT server. I was advised to change the field in instrument manager for CL merge policy to "DoNotMerge"

It's doing the trick for me, too. Thanks for putting in the workaround, guys!

Is there a known ETA for a NT 6.5 that can autotrade oil futures via TWS?

I cannot see mention of API fixes in TWS release notes and could not find mention of it in the Interactive Broker forums.

Just checking if someone knows what is happening with this, or can direct me to where this is mentioned at Interactive Brokers.

when I spoke with IB they said the extra code would probably be in the next release of the API which could be in November. He made no commitments but said it was highly likely that it would be in the next release and was guessing it would be around this month. Then NT would have to do something with it so that time would need to be added on. So not a lot really. I think this is quite low on IB's list of enhancements.

Here's what I got from Raymund at IB (after asking three times to please respond to my ticket):

                        Hello,

Our development team and Ninja Trader programmers communicated last month about this issue. Unfortunately, IB cannot release the fix as soon as possible. We need to examine the fix intensively before releasing it to the public.

Again, I will keep the ticket open. Once we released the fix, we will update Ninja Trader and this ticket.

This is interesting though that ZeroLine trader does not have this issue and manage CL trades perfectly without having to put hacks in or using beta versions.

Unfortunately I can't tell since I don't know their code.

It is nearly a year now that NT/IB cannot be used to trade energy futures

I started this thread 9 months ago and pointed out to a small problem of a definition.

                                - Expiration month is interpreted by IB as the month when the contract expires.
                                - Expiration month is interpreted by NT as the expiry month of the contract.

So all futures contracts that expire prior to expiration month cannot be traded through NT/IB. This also includes all energy futures.

By negligence or unwilllingness - I am including Interactive Brokers here - this problem could not be solved so far. How many years will it take? Is it serious to offer a trading software to paying customers that cannot be used to trade? I do not think that this level of service is acceptable. I would rather have a reliable software and a responsive customer support than any fancy features that further add to complexity.

I apologize for being clear cut, and I know that I am not making any new friends writing this. To be fair, I am otherwise more than impressed with all the features NT offers. I also appreciate that I can openly post here, and highly respect the responsiveness and competence of NT support in general.

But all this is worth little, if in the end I cannot put on a trade!
