when you import into your NinjaTrader.com member account. This license key becomes your
features and entitlements for every NT 8.1 installation you log into using those account
credentials.
and run it, it will need a license key, which was part of the backup. The 8.0 install
won't know a thing about your new NinjaTrader.com member account. The features
and entitlements of that license key will not have changed in the legacy license servers
that validate the license key -- importing the license key does not affect the legacy things
associated with that key if its used again in 8.0 platform.
You can run 8.0 and 8.1 simultaneously on different PCs, if you revert an 8.1 PC
back to 8.0, this does not affect your NinjaTrader.com member account.
Send email to NT support for these kinds of situations.
I assume they are the same, since that was the whole point of migrating
to the cloud based NinjaTrader.com member accounts -- a single login
across desktop, web, and mobile. [Disclaimer: I've only ever used the
NT desktop, I've no experience with NT web or NT mobile. My first
impressions were the web & mobile integration benefited NTB users
more than, say, prop traders, but dunno for sure.]
I mean, importing an old license key simply initializes the features and
entitlements for your NinjaTrader.com member account, then it's use is
over, you don't use it ever again in the 8.1 world. Remember, in the 8.1
world, license keys simply don't exist any more (except for that import
step, of course).
I've done it a couple of times.
Uninstall the old NinjaTrader,
Install the new NinjaTrader.
I don't recall any problems with anything
in my 'NinjaTrader 8' user folder -- every
thing seems to be backwards and forwards
compatible. Upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1, or
downgrade 8.1 to 8.0, all it seems to take
is a uninstall old and re-install new.
If the new install is 8.0 era, then setup
your license key like before -- the member
account is not used. [Chances are your
Config.xml will already have your license
key, so setting it up again after you downgrade
I don't think was necessary.]
If the new install is 8.1 era, the mandatory
login uses your NinjaTrader.com member
account -- the license key is not used.
Remember:
You only import your license key one time
into your NinjaTrader.com member account.
[That's why you use your oldest M/B key
when you do the import, so you get the most
expansive of all your entitlements from
all license keys you own.]
After you import your oldest M/B license key,
your NinjaTrader.com member account stays
ready for use by any 8.1 NT installs you have.
Your member account never goes away. Any
8.0 era installs ignore your member acct,
since they were coded before member accts
existed.
