I have a similar situation to the thread poster but I'm not sure it's exactly the same. Where I may have multiple accounts and when it hits the target (let's say I'm long), it turns into a short on some of the accounts. This seems to happen when a quick wick hits my target to the tick.

This may be a stupid question...I don't really understand these things too much. But if I am located in the suburbs of Chicago, will the VPS still be a better idea to use?Originally posted by NinjaTrader_ChelseaB View Post

Hello Rudmax,
We've brought this to the attention of our developers who after investigating has stated the API code is working correctly and the behavior is most likely high latency with the connection.
While there have been a few cases of this, the behavior is not wide spread and does not affect the vast majority of users connected with Rithmic.
However, I wanted to investigate further and reached out to the Rithmic support team to investigate any odd behavior on their end. They've reported back no issue was identified, but they are adding further RAPI logging which may help the investigation moving forward.
If you are experiencing delayed or missed updates, it is highly advised to use a VPS located in Chicago near the brokerage servers. However, we would like to continue investigating with the Rithmic team and would appreciate log and trace files sent to support [at] ninjatrader.com.

NinjaTrader_ChelseaB could you kindly share the steps being taken to resolve this issue here in this thread? This will allow all relevant parties to follow along and streamline the process, potentially reducing the number of tickets opened for NinjaTrader and for the vendors. That would be a great assistance to us.

Thanks for the perspective on the VPS! I am in California and sometimes connecting to Apex/Rithmic can take up to 30 seconds! If running off a VPS saves from all kinds of slippage it does sound worth it! Sometimes slippage between copied accounts can be $100+ for me.Originally posted by backtester831 View Post
For me it's 100% worth it, the Rithmic connection on my ninjamobiletrader vps is just simply better than running it locally at home. Even from a simple connecting standpoint, it takes like 15 seconds to connect to Rithmic Trader Pro at home, whereas it loads on the vps in under 3 seconds.
Also for trade copying, I've got 20 Apex accounts, 3 TakeProfit accounts, accounts with MFFU, and TakeProfit. By running the trade copying on the vps, the orders are executed from Chicago so I get almost identical fills across all accounts. The VPS saves me hundreds of dollars of slippage everyday, so it's very worth it for a more stable Rithmic connection, and for me to minimize slippage on copied orders. I've actually got multiple vps from ninjamobiletrader, for manual chart trading and another for leaving automated strategies running without disconnections.

Is routing is something different to the actual internet connection?

You should not need a VPS to have things work properly in my opinion. I have reached out to Rithmic multiple times to try and get this issue resolved with the positions not updating correctly every time I get the default "reach out to Ninja support" or "reach out to Flowbots" support.Originally posted by benghabili View PostI don't have VPS and I was always under the impression that if I have decent internet access, VPS might not needed. @backtester831 do you think VPS is worth the money you pay? Thankfully it seems like Ninja and Flowbots are on the same page now but Rithmic is being so very slow to react.

I have CQG data feed and I can confirm that the problem is related to Rithmic data. I have no issue with CQG data, the orderflow is normal and data load is normal also.

We have received some feedback from NinjaTrader on the case that does not involve pulling the plug or blaming third-party applications. While this is a positive step forward, I am still not fully confident that the case will be resolved quickly, unless they provide further evidence to the contrary.

I have two accounts in TopStep and after what Rogue trader shared about the discrepancy between RithmicTraderPro and ninjatrader, I ran a test trades on different accounts. I didn't notice it for the last few days since the orderflow wasn't right and I haven't entered any trade. I tried to play with it with my SIM account but was not brave enough to enter any trade with the situation we are in. Anyway, I noticed, although, seems like we entered the trade but actually fell back to the SIM account and none of my topStep accounts get any trade. The P&L is actually SIM P&L regardless of what account we choose.
It seems like there is a wired connection happens between RithmicTrader and Ninjatrader. It gets half of the data and hence Ninjatrader knows about the current price but doesn't get the full connectivity as as I mentioned in my thread, the orderflow data is missing, there is no liquidity and if you hit market order, it may enter 40 points away in NQ.

I think it was Rithmic only, but the weird thing is that on my ninjamobiletrader vps not having Rithmic issues so nowadays I only trade with Rithmic on the vps. I think having the best possible connection to Rithmic, which is what ninjamobiletrader vps provides, is the key to not having Rithmic connection issues.Originally posted by Rogue_Two View Post
Interesting!
I have not heard of Apex Tradovate users having this positions update issue so far.
You were having positions not updating when copying Apex Tradovate accounts on your desktop or were the issues isolated to just your TopStep Rithmic accounts?Last edited by backtester831; 07-19-2024, 10:12 AM.
