Ninjatrader 8 HEIKEN ASHI Error Display

    Godd Morning Counity,

I have been facin this error for a while and I think that must be solved ASAP

Today (20/06/2024) I have faced a display error by the platform, between this two images

Between those two images there is a huge difference in the interpretation of the graph and that have made me several mistakes in the last two weeks.

I need an explanation of this issue because is not possible to have those several diferences in the graph.

    1) on my first long and Stop the bar on the left hand side is Red and on the graph of the right is green

    2) On my second Long the bar was green and green on the left hand sside but on the right hand the grapgh is red green

    3) On my Third Long the bar is green and the preceeding one is green but the right hand side is red and green.

and most of the bars the visualization changes a lot .

Please can you help me to fix that Error

    Hello Rxxar,

    Thank you for the message.

It isn't unexpected for a chart to look different after reloading the historical data. Especially when using Tick-based charts.
    • When a chart is initially loaded in, it is done using Historical Data. From that point forward, it uses the incoming Real-time data to plot the chart.
    • Then, if you right-click and reload again, it will swap the real-time data with Historical data up to the current point.
    • These minor differences between the Historical and Real-time data and how those are filtered and sent to the platform add to these differences

It is common enough that we have created an article to help explain why it happens linked below:
To better help the charts line up before and after refreshing, please make sure your PC's timeclock that it uses for the local time stamps is in sync with the rest of the world:
    • Shutdown NinjaTrader
    • Right-click on the clock in the lower-right corner of your desktop
    • Select "Adjust date and time"
For Windows 10, select 'Date, Time, and regional formatting' > 'Additional date, time, and regional settings' > 'Set the time and date'
    • Select the 'Internet Time' tab at the top
    • Set the server to time.nist.gov and click "Update".
    • If the message that appears says successful your PC clock should now be updated.
    • If not, select a different server from the Server: drop-down and try again (repeat until one of the servers is successful)
For Windows 11, select Sync Now under Additional Settings. We would also recommend enabling your computer to set the time and the time zone automatically if they are not already enabled.

After updating the PC clock, reopen NinjaTrader, then right-click in the Chart and select "Reload All Historical Data".

From here, you would want to make the following chart parameters the same to have the best chance of them being the same between different windows:
    • The same instrument and contract
    • The same chart Interval
    • The same number of "Days to load"
    • The same Trading Hours template
    • The "Break EOD" box is checked
      • Once all of these settings are the same between both windows, right-click and reload the historical data to ensure they are built with real-time from the same point.

From here, we would expect most time-based charts to line up and a Tick-based chart with all of these settings in the same platform to also be very close.
    • If comparing to another data provider, trading platform, or chart with different settings, then it would be expected for there to be minor differences.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

        Hello Rxxr,

        Thank you for the update.

As previously mentioned, it isn't unexpected for the values of a Tick Based chart to change after reloading the historical data.

If you search through the forums, you will find multiple other discussions about this same topic:
Since this has already been discussed at length in those other forum posts, there is no new information to add here.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

Thanks for the Reply. The thing is the chart is minute based. I know that from tick chart the information could change a little bit but minute, its another story.

            Hello Rxxrar,

            Thank you for the update.

If the Minute charts are changing when you reload the data, that normally means the local PC's time clock is out of sync. Please make sure you have performed the steps above to synchronize your PC's time clock.
            • Then, restart NinjaTrader and right-click to reload all historical data.

As a side note, if you take a screenshot of chart, please make sure the entire chart window is visible so we can also see the Instrument and Interval selections.

If the behavior continues after synchronizing the clock, please use the following steps to send your log and trace files to the support team directly from your NinjaTrader Platform so we may investigate this behavior further:
            • Within NinjaTrader, go to the Control Center > Help > Email Support...
            • To: Set this to "Platform Technical Support"
            • Subject: Copy and paste the Forum URL
            • Attach: Attach a file, picture, or compressed file to share multiple files/pictures
            • Body: Include any other information you would like to share on the situation
            • Make sure 'Log and Trace files' is checked to include the requested files
              • Send the email
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.
