Constantly having to refresh data to match others

    Hello,
For the past several weeks, I am having to constantly, manually "Refresh All Historical Data" to match others. Mine will match up to a certain point then it will begin to deviate. Then when I refresh the data, my chart matches others.

I am using a tick chart and I know that there can be some variability between charts but after refreshing the data, my chart and others are indistinguishable. This tells me it is a problem with my setup locally and that refreshing temporarily remedies whatever the issue is.

    Things I have tried:
    1. Deleting everything in the NT8>db>cache folder
    2. Resetting the DB in Database Managment
    3. Running less applications simultaneous to NT8 on my Windows 10 machine
    4. Deleting all other tabs (charts) from my workspace and only having one chart open at a time
    5. Reducing the number of days to load in Data Series
Is there anything else that I can do to prevent this issue from occurring?

    Thank you

    Hello TradingForTheFuture,

    Thank you for posting.

Please use the steps provided below to sync the PC clock and reload data:
    • Close NinjaTrader
    • Right click on your time->Adjust Date/Time
    • Click "Sync Now"
    • Once completed go to Documents->NinjaTrader 8->Open the db folder
    • Delete the cache, day, minute and tick folders
    • Open NinjaTrader
Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

Thank you, I attempted this and will do some testing this afternoon and tomorrow. I should have included that I also use the Time-Sync app to keep my computer clock synced to time.nist.gov which refreshes once every minute.

        Christopher,
Thank you for the suggestions but I am still having the same issues. I've had to refresh at least 8 times already this morning yielding different results each time. While some of the variances may be small, it is often the difference between me taking a trade and not taking a trade. It is vital that the bars are loading correctly the first time, without the necessity to refresh and see them "correctly" after the fact.

Is there anything else that I can try? Or anything else that may be impacting my performance? Again, this just began happening within the last 2 months or so. Prior to this, I never really had to refresh.

        Thank you.

Also, for what it's worth, prior to this issue occurring, I had literally never cleared my cache folder or reset my DB. My cache folder was double digit GB when I finally cleared it and resetting the DB took over an hour the first time, so I don't think either of those are the culprit. I also have had up to 5-6 tabs with charts and indicators open at a time with no issues prior either (I deleted all but 2 now). Lastly, I've had the time sync app running for over a year as well with no issues.

Can you tell me what data provider you are connecting to within NinjaTrader. Also, what Tick interval chart are you currently loading when you see this behavior?

I am connected to NT brokerage and Rithmic simultaneously. I have done this for >1 year as well. If it matters, I also pay $12 per month for the CME bundle (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX). The tick interval I am using is 2,000.

              Thank you

Unfortunately this issue is not unique, I have the same problem but never was resolved in the past or if it was never reported by Support. Would you kindly discuss any resolution, like what caused it and what was the solution.

                    Thanks.

I have two data sources via two connections. One connection is via Ninjatrader (not Ninjatrader via Continuum) and the other is via Rithmic. By only enabling one connection, I did see improvement today. However, I wasn't able to test thoroughly. I will be unable to test the remainder of the week and next week as well. Once I am back I will continue to investigate and test.

                      Thank you

The issue seems to be mostly resolved...or at least improved vastly. I rarely have to refresh historical data now unless the market is moving very fast (usually news announcements). My issue was resolved by only using one connection. I previously had two connections live at once...by disabling one of them, it solves this problem.

The unfortunate drawback to this is that I can only trade on one connection at a time. Digging around in the settings, I do see the ability to select a preferred connection for real time data. Do you think this would allow me to have both connections live simultaneously while avoiding this data refresh issue?
