Ninjatrader is steadily getting worse and worse. They never add user requested features, that other platforms have had for years. Constant bugs in the platform. Charts that take forever to calculate, and have to re calculate every time you change anything, even something simple like a color of an indicator line. My life time license has been keeping me here, but this is getting out of hand. Quantower and MotiveWave free trials here I come. It is time to move on.

Now, why is that?
Because these market data providers have an agreement with NT whereby
NinjaTrader maintains and provides all historical data on their behalf.
You can tell if your specific data provider is deferring to NT's historical data
servers by the "Using HDS" messages in your log file.

Thank you for explaining this! I've been curious about how this works for a long time. Why would data providers outsource storage and maintenance of their historical data? I'm assuming it's more cost effective in terms of infrastructure, resources, staff etc?

I suddenly have a 2 hours gap in data too. Data was there, but is now disappeared.
Did restart, but the gap is still there. Download historical data not working?

What is the point of having a " Service Status" page (https://account.ninjatrader.com/service-status) if it doesn't tell you there's a service issue? "Services status page says there's nothing wrong, so the problems I'm having must be on my end, right?"
I just pulled all my hair out troubleshooting, updating and removing chart indicators for 3 hours trying to figure out what I did wrong and the whole time it had nothing to do with me. Now I'm stuck with the latest NT update that I was avoiding like the plague because it doesn't know how to save a login password. Awesome.

I don't think you're stuck.
What was your prior version?
You should be able to uninstall the latest version
and re-install the prior version.
If you need help with an 'msi' installer file, let me
know, otherwise downgrading to 8.0.28.0 should
work just fine.
You can download 8.0.28.0 from NT's client portal
page, if you need anything before this, I have quite
a few previous versions saved.
[EDIT: Did you make a backup before upgrading?]Last edited by bltdavid; 06-08-2023, 03:56 PM.
