JD Question: CPU and Memory: 8 Indicators vs 1 Self Created Indicator?

    Hi Ninja Folk,
Hope this finds you all safe, healthy n happy over these interesting times. I am wondering given NT 8's design is it better from a CPU and Memory point of view to run say
    1. Run 8 x NT indicators across 6 Instruments and across 6 time frames, see details below, or
    2. Create my own indicator that combines the 8 NT indicators into 1 self-created ninja script indicator across the same set of charts?

My thought process is questioning how the charts, indicators and tabs are implemented at low level and run at a Windows internals memory and cpu level

As background. I have NT 8 on a Windows 10 fully patched with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.41 and 32 GB of Memory. I code NT Script, have tuned my desktop to use 28 GB of the memory (leaving 4 GB free for surprises) and tuned my charts, indicators and strategies to use the minimum amount of data necessary and other performance tuning to improve performance. I have 4 screens and run charts for ES, NQ, YM, RTY, SPI, FDAX over the periods created as tabs Week, Hour, 4Hour , Hour, plus 3 more. I use the following indicators Swing, 3 * SMA, ATR, Bar Timer, Net Change and PriceLine

Plus I am a happy fat old bald bloke who respects everyone.

Hi brenton, thanks for posting. The performance will be more or less the same between each circumstance. The system will be pulling the same data and doing the same calculations, so it's up to you whether you run multiple indicators or one indicator that does all the same things. You can create chart templates so you don't have to set up the same chart every time if you choose to run multiple indicators:

    Kind regards,
