The quoted portion of your post is accurate - NinjaTrader changed nothing. The rest of the speculation in your post (and others) is unfounded.

FXCM contacted NinjaTrader about a change to HTTP/HTTPS protocol which we were (and still are) working with them on. FXCM then made an unrelated change that they did not warn us about over this past weekend which is the root cause of the symptom being discussed in this topic. Both of these items will require NinjaTrader to release an update to the API code. The Development Team is working on that now, however, I have no estimate on any timeline.

If you need an immediate solution, you could consider opening a live account with FXCM or paying for a supplementary data feed like Kinetick as both of these (and all feeds other than FXCM demos) are functioning without issue. FXCM rolled back the change on their end which caused the symptom in NinjaTrader. FXCM demos now connect to NinjaTrader 8 without issue.
