Get TWS 906.9 from IB and provide on download page

Another idea: as part of a good service you should change the downloadable TWS version to version 906.9 which seems to be supported beyond 20101214.

Please request this version from IB and provide it to the NT community so the hundreds of TWS users won't have to each send a request ticket to IB to receive this version.

Unfortunately we are not in the position to fix TWS bugs.

IB support acknowledged a TWS bug and announced a fix. I asked them for their recommendation regarding the 14th. I have not received a feedback yet.

I strongly recommend you raised your concerns at the appropriate places and send IB support a mail to stress the importance of that matter.

you won't like this post, but I agree with whotomynickname. Why do you try to delegate the problems you have in co-operating with Interactive Brokers to your customers? I do not think that this is the right approach. We have been playing this game for years and it never worked. Customers cannot fix bugs, and will not even know whether the bug is a NinjaTrader bug or a TWS bug.

I think, if you claim that NinjaTrader supports Interactive Brokers, it is clearly your job to have a NinjaTrader version available working with one of the supported versions of IB. I don't think that you should offer a desupported version for download on the NinjaTrader homepage.

To clarify:
- we are in touch with IB support (as of original post) as several priority mails have been sent yet
- this is an acknowledged TWS bug
- unfortunately we can't fix TWS bugs
- unfortunately we don't have access to prior TWS versions other than those on our web site
- by experience we learned that customers sending mails to IB support helped resolved IB/TWS issues. It's up to your discretion whether you like to speed up processing that issue at IB or not.
- we keep you posted in case there is any progress.

Not exactly sure what else you are expecting.

BTW: You asked why "we are behind" with supporting most recent TWS versions. This is the exact reason!

I'd like to second whotookmynickname's idea that NT trying to get TWS 906.9 from IB and then distribute it all of us. That is the fastest and effective way to save the trouble for the next few days. It is much easier for NT to get one copy of a prior version of TWS from IB than all of us asking them individually.

IB support confirmed that TWS 908 would not exhibit that issue. Unfortunately I have not yet received a download link yet. For that reason we have been unable to test that version. However, since the API is compatible I would not expect issues on NT's end. You may experience issues with the auto-start feature though which might make it necessary to manually start TWS.

I recommend contacting IB support to stress the importance of making TWS 908 available for download. Thanks

Edit: I just tested latest TWS 912 (available since yesterday) -> same bug. Apparently the acknowledged issue is not yet fixed.

Contacted IB support again, was told all I can download is what on their web page now. Dierk, really hope you can get TWS 908 from them. I am getting worried now.

Anyway you can ask NT user community to give you a TWS 908. All we need is that jts.tar file.

Unfortuantely we are not in position to present anything else to our users than what is coming officially from IB. Please feel free to go out to the community to get whatever partial TWS installation you see value in.
