I just installed Ninja Trader, and came across the problem discussed in this thread concerning not being able to change accounts in the IB TWS. After 9 months, has there been any progress with this? Does the workaround discussed in this thread still work, or is there another workaround that is required?

This message (http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ad.php?t=36445) says that versions of TWS through 917 still have this issue, yet at the same time, recommends using 917.

This thread (http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...active+brokers) and this thread (http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...brokers&page=2) indicates that there has been no progress with NT or IB.

Anyway, what is the latest scoop on this issue? Thanks.

Welcome to our forums here Rick - unfortunately your understanding of the current status of this issue is correct, the info in the sticky is current and TWS 917 the recommended version to use with NT7 R7 (7.0.1000.7). When there's an update and confirmed fix we will update the sticky and connection guide for IB of course.

Welcome to the land of the worried. I continue to run IB version 906.9 with NT7v7, and have no issues. But there's little doubt that one fine day this house of cards will come crashing down on me.

While I can't fault NT for a problem they didn't create (and can't fix) I'm disappointed that the sticky thread http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ad.php?t=36445 isn't at all clear as to the exact nature of this issue and that there isn't a large asterisk next to IB's name on the NT7 compatibility list.

        dwt

PS. I looked on RapidShare for IB's 906.9 and it's no longer available, so you're stuck with the problem.

PPS. NT can you give us a specific person or e-mail address which we should contact at IB for status on this issue?

dwt, thanks for sharing your input and I can definitely understand your perspective well here.

The sticky has been linked to in our connection guide for IB to make users aware of this current situation :

I'm checking with IB on a regular basis, feel free to email their customer service as well with questions / comments on this topic.

Es increíble que tras tantos meses no hayan sido capaces de dar una solución.

Hi I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to send me a zipped or rar file of "jts906-9.jar"

as it looks like this issue has still not been solved by IB. Unfortunately I will not be able to use NT unless I solve this issue and from what I can gather using this file seems to be the only possible solution at the moment, however the file is no longer available on rapid share.

I suspect that even the .ZIP'd version of 906.9 is too large to attach here (I tried it and failed) so I've sent you a Dropbox shared folder containing the .ZIP file. Hope this helps.

                dwt

PS. If you haven't yet tried Dropbox, it's a "cloud" storage program, ideal not only for backing up your own stuff (though it's not particularly secure) but for sharing files like this. If you sign up through my link we'll both get a bit of extra storage.

                  Hi dwt__,

Thank you for sharing the jts906.9jar file much appreciated. The problem seems to be solved for now. However I'm concerned like yourself as to how long this solution will last. I'm befuddled that it's been around 10 months since this problem was first identified and IB and has still not solved it.

                  Thanks Again

IB Fix for FA Account Groups

I spoke to the IB API group today and they say the current build of TWS has corrected the problem with FA Account Group use through NT. They say that once NT updates to support TWS build 921 or higher, then we will be able to select different account groups and see and trade positions in all the account groups through NT.

When does NT anticipate having an update that will support TWS builds 921 or higher? Thanks.

                      Hi rmyrick,

Unfortunately, I'm not able to provide an ETA for support of the 921 build but this is something which development is working towards for future releases.

For anyone out there that has an FA account and running Windows 7 SP 1, I discovered a work around the FA issue. I use the latest version of TWS and make sure I launch it first. Then I start up my IB Simulated trading account. Next, I launch NT 7 with it set to point to the Simulated Trading account. Works fine except for one problem. I cannot trade directly inside NT.

                        Hope this helps.

I'm not exactly sure what your expectation in that regard would be. As expressed in various posts below:
                          a) we pointed out that the issue is beyond our control
                          b) we tried to push IB hard multiple times to get it resolved to no avail

We are in the same position as you: unfortunately we needed to wait until IB finally would resolve the issue.

OH! Sigh one whole year of "we are waiting for IB" ......!!!!

Now after two updates from NT we are without doubt still waiting on NT!!!!!!!

And of course absolutely no idea if its worth waiting another 4 months for the next update because all feedback is well..... just not feedback.

                          Amazing

The Day of Reckoning has arrived

When I rebooted and restarted TWS version 906.9 this morning I was presented with the following:

The version of the application you are running, 906.9, needs to be updated, as it will be desupported on 20111231. The minimum supported version at that time will be 909.9.

                            Interesting word, desupported..

Assuming rmyrick was told correctly below, the ball is back in NT's court and the time for action is NOW.

Originally posted by rmyrick View Post

So waddaya say, NT? How about a Christmas miracle that makes build 921 the supported version of TWS for Ninja?

Failing at that, what are the ramifications of using 921, if it's not supported?

Anyone care to suggest any alternatives?

                            Thank you.

Interactive Brokers Financial Adviser account holders,

Our supported version of TWS 917 meets the requirements set by IB for support into the new year. However there is an item inside this version that affects FA account holders only.

We have seen this notification and we are planning on releasing a custom build that will be completed after the holidays that will be able to connect to the latest version of TWS for FA account holders.

There was a connection issue that we ran into with the latest version of Interactive Brokers TWS that Development is working through now and barring any unforeseen circumstances we suspect to be able to release a custom build that can correctly login to the latest version of traders work station.

Please email support at ninjatrader dot com and in the subject line put ATTN: Management in the subject line and request the Custom Build to connect to the latest version of TWS. Once the custom build is ready I will be able to send instructions on how to install this version to your email address.

                              Thank you for your patience.

Thanks, Brett, for the update. It appears that the logjam has been broken and a solution is on the horizon.

But it also appears that there will be a gap between the 12/31 "desupport" of 906.9 and NT's custom solution.

Aside from the lame "work around" that doesn't allow trading within NT does anyone have any suggestions for bridging the gap?

                                Thanks.
