You are correct in understanding, providing the .txt file contains data for the YM 06-09.

I'm having problems importing as well, if I should start a new thread let me know.

by the way if you are looking for good quality historical data try: http://www.tickdata.com/

I'm trying to import data, just a simple test file. In this case I only have 5 min data so I added extra lines to make up the 1 minut bars.

          20061023 093100;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1
          20061023 093200;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1
          20061023 093300;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1
          20061023 093400;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1
          20061023 093500;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;10496

I created 2 files with this data; es1test.txt and estest.txt

I read in the help file and it said if you import with out having an symbol in the instrument center then it brings it in as a stocl. That should be fine for me. But I created the second file so I can test with a symbol I added.

here are the log entries for the import of es1test.txt which I created a symbol for it

          4/13/2009 9:20:44 PM|3|4|Unable to import file 'C:\Documents and Settings\mike licalsi\My Documents\TN\Data\es1test.txt'. Instrument is not supported by repository.

The plain import for estest.txt said it completed success but I can not find the data.

Can some one help me with this import test.

              Hello mikeytrader,

              Thank you for your post.

Please try importing with the file named "ES 06-09.txt" and let me know if you receive the same results.

I didn't realize when I added the symbol it added the date to the name, when I changed the file name it loaded the data into the symbol I created

                thanks that worked

                    Hello price777999,

I suspect the file you try to import does not use the format listed in the link below.

The data needs to be in the exact same format.

Upon importing the historical data, please check the Log-tab for error messages. Most likely it will state the line where the format error can be found. You will need to manually modify the file, so it will import successfully.

Did you request the historical data to use the format NinjaTrader uses?

"Upon request, we can export all data to many other standard formats (AbleSys, MetaTrader, Neoticker, NinjaTrader, SierraCharts, Wealth-Lab, etc.)"

If the historical data does not use the format listed in the link below, the historical data will not imported successful.

I am unfamiliar with the file you posted (6BM9.TXT.GZ). I could not open it either.

Please ensure to follow the instructions at the link below to import historical data.

                                hi price777999,

I looked at your file and to me it was a bit odd. You have a compressed gz file inside a compresssed zip file. but after I unzipped both I can see the format of the data is not correct.

                                this is the first line
                                19961001;1.5560;1.5560;1.5560;1.5560;5

                                it needs to be
                                19960101 100100;1.5560;1.5560;1.5560;1.5560;5

the time needs to be formated as HHMMSS

                                and the date as yyyymmdd

you will need to change the format of your data either from the source or you can run a script to modify the data.

                                hope that helps
