i dont want to pay for a monthly data feed .is it possible to buy historical data stored in a file ,then simply top up the file with my live feed from my broker ?

Have you tried contacting the exchanges directly for data? They usually offer quality data in various file formats.

ok i found some historical data but im having problems importing it ,the file name is YMM9.TXT.GZ .

do i have to change the file name or something ?

yes i have read this but i am still having problems , do i right click on the file and click rename and change the file name to YM 06-09.txt ?
