Alerts -A better way to set price alerts needed

Right click on the chart at the price you want to set the alert at, popup appears to confirm, click ok....that's it?

I agree the alert system could definitely be improved. Currently, if you don't have the alert window open you are not alerted, and when you do get an alert the window sits in the background.

If my alarm clock was like that, I'd still be sleeping...




Is it possible to add
"using System.Windows.Forms;"
to the declarations section of an indicator/strategy and then use the basic "MessageBox.Show" function?

Unfortunately you still must add the price alert indicator and open the alerts window.

The beta release of NinjaTrader 7 is scheduled for the end of this month. Any improvements would be released then, unfortunately development has not released the improvements yet.

Ok, thank you. How would I then be able to send email alerts to my Blackberry. I posted this as a reply in another thread. There is a SendMail application, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this. What I'm looking to do, is be able to set a price alert if go to each lunch, and if it triggers, it will send it to my Blackberry. Then I can run back to my computer to see if I need to enter an order.

I had the exact same idea and wholeheartedly agree . This is a must addition to NT7. Setting a price alert can not be a convoluted process.

If I have an analyzer window with 10 instruments in it, can I not set individual price alarms for each of the 10 different instruments ????????

How do I set up price alarms for unique instruments ?

Hi Wave,

Market Analyzer alerts work off the column value, which will vary for each instrument. If you want to setup alerts for multiple instruments, a separate chart for each instrument is the best way to go and you can use the built in indicator PriceAlert.

Better Alarm Needed

Problem is, I use a few charts all linked to an analyzer window as I scroll through different markets, so the alarm is not really linked to the correct contract that way.

Although I did just try it and it didn't even pop anything up on my screen??? What is the alarm ?? And I can't set an audio ??

My goodness, I had no idea this basic alarm functionality hadn't been thought about in Ninja ....

Hi FastCar,

Yes, alerts have controls available for the sound file, text color, background text color, and priority. Depending on where you are setting these alerts, it may be available from a gui or through custom programming.
