General Questions

So Ninjatrader web camp out and in all honesty there has been no good explanation video for the people who have been using the desktop version for a long while, and if it is worth to switch over and the differences. So down below are some questions I have
1. How can I connect third party connection such as Interactive brokers, or Rithmic Trader
2. Can I trade with prop firms on the web based platform
3. Do I need to sign up and make a brokerage account? or can I connect with the connections I have already on ninjatrader
4. What is the main differences between Desktop and Web platform? Is it worth the switch
Theres just a lot of unanswered questions about web platform, specially for people who own the desktop version so any help will be greatly appreciated

1. No, you cannot connect to IB or RTrader on the web version.
2. You cannot. The web version only supports NinjaTrader Brokerage.
3. You can only connect to the web version using the NinjaTrader connection type. In fact, there's not even an option for this because the NinjaTrader connection is built all the way in.
4. You wouldn't likely switch (today at least) unless you need to access your account from the web e.g. from a mobile tablet or from your browser at work where you can't install an application. The desktop application has far more features and is more customizable and programmable, although the web platform will undoubtedly improve over time and perhaps approach the same level.

I think this could broadly be summarized that the web version (and the mobile versions) are not really intended to be for people already used to the desktop version so they can "switch over". It's probably intended to grow the audience beyond those who would ever use the desktop version, understanding that it won't be the same. It's different. But the potential audience is larger.

But, if you are a NinjaTrader Brokerage customer, you might use both because you could monitor your positions from the field more easily with web/mobile.

I am only describing the state of things as of today based on public information - NinjaTrader staff alone can comment on any future plans or provide additional information or correct me where I am incorrect of course and I could have missed something.

So question then, if I am connected to rithimic trader on the desktop, does this mean that I can submit my orders with the new version of ninjatrader desktop, shut my computer down and all my orders will still run with atm strategies? Because my problem is my computer has had to been connected online for rithmic trader to work, but I have been trading and travelling for months and having to waste time sitting by my computer waiting for orders til fill and hit pt or stoploss.

There are server-side ATMs that stay running when you are not connected on both NinjaTrader Desktop and the web version but they to the best of my knowledge are specific to NinjaTrader Brokerage so I am unsure how you could use those with RTrader if at all. NinjaTrader Support may be able to clarify this point.

Hello josh18955,

Thanks for your post.

QuantKey_Bruce is correct.

You cannot connect to IB or RTrader on the NinjaTrader Web platform. The NinjaTrader Desktop platform must be used for this.

No, trading with prop firms on the NinjaTrader Web platform is not supported. NinjaTrader Desktop would need to be used for this.

You can only connect to the Web version of NinjaTrader using the NinjaTrader connection type which is built into the Web platform.

As QuantKey_Bruce stated, you would not necessarily need to switch to using the Web platform unless you need to access NinjaTrader from the web instead of using the Desktop platform application. The Desktop application has more features compared to the Web platform and is more customizable and programmable.

If you are a NinjaTrader Brokerage client you may consider using both the Desktop and Web platforms because you could monitor your positions easily with Web/Mobile.

" does this mean that I can submit my orders with the new version of ninjatrader desktop, shut my computer down and all my orders will still run with atm strategies? "

No, you will need to have NinjaTrader open and be connected to your account connection.

There are server-side ATMs that stay running when you are not connected on both NinjaTrader Desktop and the Web version as QuantKey_Bruce stated but this is specific to NinjaTrader Brokerage.

I see you were already assisted in a different thread:
Hello, I am trying to use my Leeloo pay-per-performance account and the graph does not move for more than 1 min, I am using the license that Leeloo provides me since I do not have a license of my own. please I need help. the only way to update the graph is by selecting reload all data history

In the future in order to prevent duplicating efforts from our support team, please refrain from posting the same question multiple times in the forum. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for using NinjaTrader.
