Log issue - unknown position

    Log issue - unknown position

    I have been getting this error periodically:
    8/29/2022 2:24:57 PM Position Received position for unkown symbol 'CBOTYMU2', account 'xxxxxxxxxx'

    and then the system is locking up. Can I isolate this in an OnPosition event? How should I handle?

    Thanks for your post.

    This sounds like it could be due to faulty instrument mapping. First, make sure you're on the current version of NinjaTrader 8. Your version number can be found under Help > About. The current version is 8.0.26.1 - if you are not on this version, please upgrade.

    To update NinjaTrader, please follow the steps below.
    • First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
    • Click on the link: http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
    • Enter your license key and press Submit
    • Select 'NinjaTrader 8'
    • Select 'Download'
    • Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.
    Once complete, you will also want to reset your instruments to update mappings and expiry information. To reset your instruments, please take the steps below.
    • First, disconnect from any data providers by navigating to the Control Center > Connections menu, and left-click on “disconnect” that appears to the right when hovering your mouse over any active connection
    • Next, reset your instruments by navigating to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management
    • In the Database Management window, under the “Update instruments” section, ensure that “General properties”, "Futures expiries" and “Symbol mappings” options are checked and then click Update
    • Lastly, restart NinjaTrader for the changes to occur

      I updated to the current version and updated instruments as instructed. Everything worked well for a few days but experienced same issue today:

        Thanks for your note.

        Please write in to support[AT]ninjatrader.com and follow the steps below to include your log and trace files with your email so I may investigate this further.

        In the Subject of your email, include ATTN: BrandonH 03183336. In the Body of the email, include a link to this forum thread.
        • Open the Windows File Explorer (hotkey = Windows key + E) Then navigate to "Documents" > Open the "NinjaTrader 8" folder
        • Right-click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
        • Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to your email.
        • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.
