    Using Visual Studio Debugging

    Hi,

I refer to the link below on Visual Studio Debugging and would appreciate some guidance on it.

    NinjaTrader 8

Under step 1, after enabling debug mode on ninjascript editor, it says compile your scripts to create the debug DLL What does this mean and how do i do that?
Under step 3, it says, " in Visual Studio, select Debug, then select Attach to Process." Debug tab or dropdown, doesn't appear on Visual Studio. Is there some module that needs to be installed?

    Regards

    Hello Kay Wai,

    Thank you for your post.

The step of compiling your scripts after enabling Debug Mode is very important. You may compile by either right-clicking again and selecting Compile or by using the F5 keyboard shortcut. You should not launch Visual Studio until after you have enabled debug mode and compiled successfully. Then, when you launch Visual Studio, you should be able to locate the "Debug" dropdown menu at the top of the screen:
World's leading screen capture + recorder from Snagit + Screencast by Techsmith. Capture, edit and share professional-quality content seamlessly.

Otherwise, you could try the keyboard shortcut for Attach To Process which is Ctrl + Alt + P by default. From there, you should be able to continue following the instructions outlined on this page:

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

      Hi Emily,

      Thank you for your reply

I followed what was written in the NT8 Help Guide as above as well as what you suggested. I followed Step 1 as you instructed.
Step 2 was fine too. I managed to get NinjaTrader.Custom.csproj open on VS 2022 and that's where things started to differ.

This is what my VS 2022 Dropdown menu headers look like after following the instructions:-

There is no DEBUG on my VS 2022. Do you know why this may be the case?

And since I couldn't find DEBUG, there was no Attach to Process as well. I tried Ctrl + Alt + P. Nothing appeared as well.

I look forward to your reply.

      Regards

      Kay Wai

All good Emily. It was a case of missing modules.
