    GPU Usage

    Hi,

I have had massive issues with lagging whilst running my layout and it will more often than not have a 5-6 second lag whilst clicking or placing orders.

At first, I believed it to be the CPU and the indicators and I posted this to this link about it.

Hi, I have been running Ninjatrader on my 3 monitor setup and have experienced lagging clicks whenever I try to submit an order or even just general clicking. The lagging will last 5-6 seconds until the action comes through I am running a: Samsung EVO 1TB SSD 3 32" Samsung S7 Montiors Crucial 32GB Memory I was

However, I believe it now to be the GPU (I will attach photos) the first photo is whilst my layout is running and the second is with it closed.

Is there an option within the program to move the graphical processes to the CPU?

    Hello dward123 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately there is no setting within NT8 to allocate processes to the CPU.

We would not be able to advise much when it comes to improving your local machines performance, besides outlining what you can do within NT8 to improve renderring.

You may want to reach out to a PC tech for assistance in that regard.

If your order placements are lagging by 5-6 seconds, first I recommend testing your platform in Safe Mode to verify if this behavior is being caused by a 3rd-party add-on using the steps below.

Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
    • Loading workspaces and connecting on start-up.
    • Loading custom assemblies (i.e. 3rd-party add-ons and NinjaScripts)
    • Getting instrument updates from the server

To enable Safe Mode, please use the following steps:
    • Shut down NinjaTrader.
    • Hold the CTRL key and double-click the NinjaTrader icon.
    • Keep holding the CTRL key until you see the Control Center.
    • You may then verify you are in Safe Mode by going to Help -> About.

Alternatively, To enable Safe Mode, you can also use the following steps:
    • Shut down NinjaTrader.
    • Click on the Windows Start Button
    • Search for and Launch NinjaTrader (Safe Mode)

Once you have opened the platform in Safe Mode:
    • Reconnect to your Data Provider
    • Please open a new chart with no custom bar types/indicators/templates and test for issues.

Does the behavior persist on this blank Workspace in Safe Mode?
    • If not, please try opening your previous workspace by going to the Control Center > Workspaces drop-down. It may already show as being open. Hit 'close' and do not save and then re-open it again for your windows to re-appear. You will notice that no 3rd-party add-ons are running in Safe Mode.

Does the behavior return on your regular Workspace in Safe Mode?
    • If not, restart NinjaTrader, and test for the behavior on your Workspace normally once more with your 3rd-party add-ons available. If this reintroduces issues, I suggest rebuilding your workspace, adding 1 add-on at a time.
    • Please keep track of what add-ons you add back in to identify the cause of the behavior if it returns.

If it does not return, it indicates the error was isolated only to your other Workspace. I also suggest making a backup of your workspace so we can restore a working version of it if the issue returns. You will want to keep this backup file on an external hard drive or uploaded to a cloud drive such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.

To create a backup, go to the Control Center > Tools > Export > Backup File. Additional information about backups may be read in our Help Guide linked below.

Please let me know the results of this test. I look forward to your response.

Dward123, in your Task Manager screenshot, "Intel UHD Graphics" indicates that your GPU is integrated graphics (GPU combined with CPU in one package) and not a separate/dedicated graphics card. Highly recommended that you move graphics to a dedicated graphics card, preferably one ranking high in GPU compute performance. It will be a huge improvement. https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/directCompute.html

        Hi Lancer,
I am having similar issues with having multiple charts. I have a separate graphics card, it is RTX 3070 with an i9 processor. How do I move the graphic to a dedicated graphics card? Do you mean NT8 graphics?
        Thanks,
        Junaid

bjunaid, No, I don't mean NT8 graphics specifically, I mean system graphics. If you have a RTX 3070 graphics card installed in your PC, that is a separate/dedicated/discrete graphics card (compared to integrated graphics), and you should be good to go. To be sure the RTX 3070 is enabled, you can always check Device Manager > Display Adapters, where you should see the RTX 3070 listed. If your integrated graphics device (e.g. "Intel UHD Graphics") is also listed, it is not disabled. If listed/enabled in addition to your RTY 3070, disable integrated graphics in Device Manager, or boot into BIOS/UEFI, look for iGPU (integrated graphics) or Internal Graphics in graphics settings, and disable it.

If your RTX 3070 is running graphics and your charts are lagging during fast market periods, then that is a different matter. See the discussion here.
