It seems clear at this point that they are not going to do this. It's so obviously the right thing to do that for them to have not done it implies there has been a management decision that they are not going to do it and they are just not saying so.

I don't understand why NT dev team does not want to give us the option to save the username/password for the Windows desktop NT app. Meanwhile on iOS app, NT saves the user/pass. I understand this could be for security reasons. However, I would like to mention that forcing users to enter password every time they launch NT can also be a poor security practice. This is because if users to type the password every time to launch the NT app, they are more likely to choose a weak password so easy to remember. Atleasat give us the option to save the password for N period of days/hours on Windows.

I certainly agree with this. No one will choose a truly secure password if they have to enter it multiple times per day - that is absurd. The policy is basically a policy that requires users to choose a weak password. It would be far, far better to use MFA for the first connection to a device, and then to allow the user to elect to remember the sign-in from then on but for some reason this obvious truth is falling on deaf ears here and has since March 2023. All we have received in response to the chorus of cries of alarm about this are responses like "we're gauging pushback" etc. which means, basically, they have already decided not to do this, sadly. It is a poor decision for the product's future - the future is one in which passwords are obsolete, as I am sure anyone can see by now. To require that you TYPE a password each time is just silly and anachronistic, and for developers who have to restart the platform many times per day, it's especially burdensome, and will inevitably result in them choosing a password weaker than they otherwise might. And that's really true not just of developers but of any heavy user of the platform, including active day-traders who use multiple devices, etc. so the burden falls hardest on those who depend on NinjaTrader most - exactly the wrong message to be sending to the users in the best position to become brand ambassadors and advocates for the platform going forward.

This feature would save me a lot of time during the day as NT crashes a fair bit while developing if a bug freezes the chart that I need to repeatedly log in.
Had to restart NT about 20 times so far this morning because chart freezes and still have not found my bug.

I agree this is a lame and annoying UI implementation. But where does it rank in the very long list of stupid UI design decisions which have been made by mgmt and software engineers at NT. How about the inane requirement to hold down Ctrl to move a chart vertically? (Someone deserves a boot print on the bum for that one)

My recommendation would be to learn AutoHotKey (Use v2) It is not necessarily easy to learn, but I would say it is worth it. It has been able to overcome all the UI hinderances I have found in NT.

FYI... I am not associated with AHK in any way... Just another user.
