Has this been going on for a while or is it something that only started happening recently, such as making any changes to your PC or importing a new script to the platform? Do you use third party scripts in your platform or only scripts that you have developed yourself? What are the results when using version 8.1.1.7 rather than 8.0.28.0?

Version 8.1.1.7 may be found after logging in to the client portal, going to the Downloads page, and selecting 8.1.1.7 in the "Prior Releases" section on the right-hand side of the page:

Many of the posts in this thread are about slow compile times in the latest version, 8.1.2.1. I am curious to see if you notice a difference between that version, 8.0.28.0, and 8.1.1.7

There is a specific problem with 8.1.2.x which has to do with the new Rosyln compiler rework - prior to that, such as in 8.1.1.7 or 8.0.28.0, if your compiling is taking longer and longer it's probably because you're accumulating more and more clutter in your indicator and strategy list, so every time it compiles it has to compile not just what you changed but your other thousand things in there as well. Clean that out, and you'll find it compiles fast again.

thanks for the reply. this version is faster that the 8.1.2 version. but, it still takes 45 seconds to minute and half. that's when its fast.

noted. i compile and go through 'finish' and then restart because of all the changes and modifications made. figure that has to settle. plus, it does start updating slower if i don't.

the 8.1.2 was taking 2 to 3 minutes to update a modification in the strategy builder. so, its an improvement.

As I've mentioned here, and here with subsequent posts in that thread, it can also be directly related to the number of editor tabs/windows open. This slowdown started back in 8.0.26.0 and has been getting worse. 8.0.27.0 up have all made it even more so. 8.1.2.1 is the culmination of very poor management of compilations, with the Roslyn changes merely contributing to a pre-existing set of issues.

Yep, 8.1.2 not usable. Compile takes too long. 8.1.1.7 works great, compile takes few secs as it should
