Bug in Historical Data Window has no exit button!?

Yes. See also: https://forum.ninjatrader.com/forum/...i-provider-off.
Removing the "X" to force the user to continue is never a good design.
There is ZERO excuse for there not being an X, and there really should be a "Cancel" button left of "Continue" as well. If it is NinjaTrader's contention that it is NECESSARY to railroad all users through the download screen before getting to Playback, then if they cancel, they should not be in playback anymore. That would be unexpected, which is just proof that it is wrong to force them to be here in the first place and proof that this UI path is not required.Last edited by QuantKey_Bruce; 06-10-2023, 06:18 AM.

Thanks for your reply, I didn't see that post. I don't expect NT to change that in the next few years, if ever. Unfortunately, this confirms once again that NT is going downhill and not uphill.Originally posted by QuantKey_Bruce View PostYes. See also: https://forum.ninjatrader.com/forum/...i-provider-off.

No, they will not be changing it because they do not seem to understand that it is wrong.
I assume they are thinking it saves on technical support because so many people go into playback and it does not work because they did not download any replay data.
A better solution would be when you're in playback mode and you put in a date range, it could tell you which symbols you have playback data for in that range and if any tradable dates are missing for those symbols or if you need additional symbols, it could offer a path to opening the download window.
But forcing them into the download window and worse yet violating Windows UI conventions by having no cancel or X is just bad.Last edited by QuantKey_Bruce; 06-10-2023, 06:32 AM.

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
It was designed that way, so you can make sure to get Market replay data when you are connecting to a Playback connection. Then you need to select the Continue button and you will be able to disconnect from Playback if needed under Control Center>Connections.
If you just want to open a Historical data window, but not to use a Playback connection, please navigate to Control Center>Tools>Historical data.

This is a bad solution for the user, it cannot be negotiated! The user should always have the option of canceling a process.

Yes, they still don't understand a lot or don't want to understand.
