waltFX I agree with QuantKey_Bruce. It's not really about possible popups. It's about transparency and security more generally. Unless you have a good reason not to post the source of the .exe (please let us know, we are always open to good reasoning), the source is really the only acceptable approach to such a simple matter ... or most matters, in fact, where a .exe is involved.

BUT if you just want to run the exe, here is the easy way to stop the "smartscreen" warnings:

But, for NinjaTrader, we should not have to do this - please do add this back as this was always a platform feature and now we're having to do some workaround to be able to log in without typing credentials every time.

A complete cluster. What were you guys thinking! It took me 20 minutes to log in. And really CAPTCHA and time outs. What if I NT crashes and I need to get in a hurry. I should be able to turn this verification/log in off. Revert to simple; it has been working for a long time.

It isn't just a time sink - it's a huge risk because customers can get locked out or delayed from getting back in during the worst possible times whereas before, for the previous twenty years, clicking on the icon caused the program to start right up. We need that back - at least as an option for those who opt in. This is perhaps the most pressing open issue with the 8.1 rollout. Saying that it's a "feature request" and votes are being tabulated is absurd on its face - this is how the platform has always worked and it is currently broken. No one is requesting some new functionality be added.

Here's reality...

Ninjatrader is playing the 80/20 rule here and running out the clock... 20% of us who are PI$$ED off will keep making noise while the other 80% (especially new people who don't know any better) will stay quiet... they will wear us down... let's be real here for a minute... This is something that could have been implemented EASILY already and hasn't... why? Because they have no intention of changing it...

It's the same reason you can't save charts with tabs...
It's the same reason that trade performance reports don't include strategy names...
It's the same reason that I can't login and change the display type of the instrument in the new version because I don't have a live account... So I can't get to that part of the platform...

There isn't enough noise that we can make to alter what NT has already decided for us...

I have never known a product to treat its customer base and vendors with such disdain...

This is completely crazy. Please remove the password option. The very fact that we can bypass it with autoit means that it is not really secure anyway. Next think we will need to prick our fingers and place a drop of blood into the computer every time we trade. Think it through Ninga!

Honestly, I do not think that avoiding to ask credentials at the start poses a real risk.

But if it is necessary, a user that checks a "Remember me" is accepting this risk. To reassure it you could set a warning when checking it for first time.

It is very annoying. Really.

If anyone is interested, I uploaded source code for automatically logging into NinjaTrader. It assumes NinjaTrader is not running and the username is already saved.

I'm hopeful that NinjaTrader will include a checkbox for saving our password but in the meantime this is what we use.
