    TPO session start time

    Sorry if this has been asked, I searched and wasn't able to find an answer.

    I'm using NT8.0.22.2 64-bit, with NinjaTrader Continuum data.

    Also, I'm in the central time zone.

    The data series trading hours are set to RTH and the profile's trading hours are set to use the data series settings.

    Is there any way to have the "A" period begin at market open (8:30 AM)? As it stands, the first period is "B" due to the unchangeable setting under the "Times" section of the profile indicators properties.

    Also, is there a way to have the opening print colored? For example the very first letter printed for the session would be blue.

    There's got to be an easy way to address the sessions not starting with the market, right?

      Hello,

      Thanks for your post.

      I suspect this is a function of your Trading Hours template on the Data Series rather than the indicator settings, which will not plot data outside of the timeframes specified. Right click on the chart> Data Series> change the Trading Hours template to the desired template with the desired opening and closing times to have the indicators begin plotting at this time as well.

        The data series is correct and starts at 8:30. I'm using CME US Index Futures RTH.

        As I mentioned regarding the indicator settings "As it stands, the first period is "B" due to the unchangeable setting under the "Times" section of the profile indicators properties." Take a look at this part of the indicator settings - the 8am being associated with period "A" is incorrect, and is hard coded. This means that the indicator plots "B" as the first period of regular hours, which is incorrect. I'm sure there's something very easy I'm missing here there's no way this would be overlooked by the dev team.

                Any chance you can specify that the request is to have control over both the letter and the time? Along with the ability to have a specific color for the first letter printed (showing the open). These are standard on other platforms that have TPO and are very important.

                Right now it skips over "C" period and uses that letter for the current/close price. Attaching a TPO chart from Sierra as an example.

                Also I've seen others request the ability to "break out" the profile as it is being formed, which you can also see in this example. Do the devs truly incorporate these requests?

                  Or they could just correct it so that it starts with the session start time.

                    Bump for the tracking number (if one was ever made).

                    Remember this isn't a feature request this is a bug fix. The TPO tool was made incorrectly.

                          Hello,

                          Thanks for your post.

                          It is important to look into the 'Order Flow + Volume Profile' properties, specifically the 'Times' section to understand the time slices reported by the tool and what color and letter is associated. The time displayed in converted to your local time zone and is a fixed frame of referenced from starting at 8:00 CST. This time is arbitrarily picked and provides all instruments to share the same time slice, therefore the letter 'A' and associated color will always be the same calendar day and not effected by the individual instrument, this allows comparison between charts based on a fixed time scale. The color for each time slice is customizable, once you have it defined

                          Note: Only intraday charts are supported. Daily, weekly, or monthly charts are not supported at this time.

                          Having said this, the feature request to customize Volume Profile letters has no been implemented at this time. I'll add your vote.

                            I'll throw my hat in the ring as well.
                            It seems that period A should begin with 8:30am CST.

                            Most, if not all TPO reference material I've found, indicate the A period begins with the NY cash open session.

                            My vote is to either change the TPO time period table to reflect that, or at least, allow the user to customize the times.
