    Hello joemiller,

    Thanks for your reply.

If you delete an existing chart with draw objects in a workspace, the recovery is to immediately close the workspace without saving the workspace and then reopen the workspace. This assumes that the draw objects were saved previously in the workspace which is what would be recovered.

If you did not previously save the draw objects then correct you would not be able to recover them.

Note if the draw objects are of extreme criticality you should be performing a workspace save after each object is added. Additionally, you can also create a copy of the workspace at any time. Finally, you can save a back-up of your NinjaTrader using the backup utility.

Correct, that is expected as the chart template would not include draw objects. Draw objects are saved in the workspace when you save your workspace.
so am i correct that the draw objects are irrecoverable, as opposed to being somehow recoverable from some workspace somewhere?

practiced/tested the chart template save and restore procedure.

everything worked fine except the chart drawings were not
    restored?

    please advise.

    Hello joemiller

    Thanks for your post.

A chart image is a picture of the chart and would be saved as an image file in your Doc uments>NinjaTrader8 folder. When you select save chart image, you should see a "save image as" window in order to save the image anywhere with any name you wish.

The image file would not allow you to recover as a chart, it is only an image file.

If you delete a chart from the workspace, you can recover by immediately closing the workspace and choosing the option to say "NO" to saving the workspace in this very specific instance. Re-opening the workspace would in effect restore your previously saved workspace that would have had the chart before it was deleted.

Another alternative is to save a chart "template". This would allow you to re-create a chart quickly. Please see the helpguide here: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help..._templates.htm

started a topic saving and recovering chart images

    saving and recovering chart images

i see that i can right click on a chart and save the chart image.

so, if i save a chart image and then delete it from a workspace,
can i at some later time recover the chart by adding it to a workspace?

if so, please tell me how to do it.
