    To OP(benJ?)
I reported the same slow compile problem via the email interface on NT. They told me that they were aware of the problem, and were working on it. So maybe they heard you?

Vis-a-vis the firewall between developers and support comment: I ran a firmware development group many many years (20+) ago. I implemented exactly what you described and we saw an immediate improvement in bug fix turnaround. Interestingly developers also began writing improved code.

Today, I installed the latest update from Microsoft for my Windows 10 and the compile forever issue went from occasional to all the time. My machine is fast with lots of memory but it is not Windows 11 compatible. The CPU is Intel Gen 7. I wonder if this problem is related to that.

I notice that the compilation completes normally as indicated by the Editor display refreshing. I can close it after that by the Close command or by killing it with the Task Manager and then reopen it. Often it compiles normally then.

        Hello JGRtrader,

Unfortunately, there is no update at this time.

Our developer are aware of the issue and are looking into the matter.

Should there be a correction, this will be in a future release of NinjaTrader.

I am having the same compiling problems on multiple computers that have been reported by many others. The recent releases are practically unusable. Admitting that Customer Support can't even reproduce the problem expresses incompetence. Instead of amplifying that expression by saying "Should there be a correction," why not instead admit that there has to be a problem where so many have reported it and, if it is true, state that the developers are trying to find and fix it?

It seems the problem, at least in my case, is fully related to using an external monitor and then unplug it. I have 2 PC both running Windows 10 when I was using my LG Ultrawide monitor everything was working fine with the last NT8 release, then when I unplugged the external monitor and started using only the builtin monitor in the PC I started to have the eternal compilation and chart freezing problems. At the beggining I was not connecting the issue to the monitor, but over the last days I was working on another PC also on Windows 10 with the same LG display running the latest NT8 release working flawlessly, todayI unplugged the external monitor to use only the PC builtin monitor and at the second compilation both the eternal compilation and chart freezing occurred. NT8 finally crashed. So the problem happened twice on two different systems just when I restarted my PC and NT8 the first time the LG external display was not connected.

NinjaTrader needs to make a priority of this. I have lost a lot of time developing because of this, I have lifetime license/subscription. I would not be comfortable running scripts that have this issue with real $ at stake. With a new install and a simple sample script for test, I did not see this. But with my now complex script, it occurs frequently. Three times today. So at this point I am going back to 8.1.1.7. I have to get on with my project.

I only use a laptop with no second monitor and still getting the issue, so I doubt if dual monitor setup is the root issue

I have four LG monitors running on an old AMD FirePro that supports four DP connections. My machine is not Windows 11 compatible and so I am running on Windows 10, which I keep updated. I was able to run several days at a time without a big hang, but the most recent update to Windows 10 made it happen frequently so I went back to 8.1.1.7.

Since this seems to be a common problem shouldn't there be a warning on versions after 8.1.1.1.7 that the following versions are BETA or best avoided and bipassed and another note on the future version that fixes the problem. There is no need to waste anyone's time downloading something with problems without warning, knowing that there is a known 'unfixable' problem.

I am also having the same problem running a W10 machine not upgradeable to W11 and have downgraded to 8.1.1.1.7

Another small bug I noticed on uninstall was that the uninstaller deleted the desktop shortcut but not the quick access taskbar shortcut which seemed to have been done on previous uninstalls
It can be deleted with a restart which you would normally do after uninstalling or installing Ninjatrader,

Another problem I would class as a bug is the 'Historical' window opening first on opening 'Playback' from version 27.0 onward. Whilst it is an unnecessary step for me it might be ok for others. The problem or bug with it is that the window only opens up 75%. It needs to open up 100% as a fully readable window without having to maximise it before pressing 'Continue'. Otherwise it might as well be set on maximise in the first place, if it needs to be maximised anyway.

I have the never ending compile issue. Is there a solution to this yet?

                        Hello eleven,

Unfortunately, there is not a solution at this time and our development team is still investigating the issue.

Just want to say despite compiling freezing issues, the introduction of C# features up to version 8 in NT 8.1.2.x is super helpful. I would not want to downgrade to previous version.

I have been noticing that sometimes the Export Backup File freezes sometimes. See screenshot below. When I click on Export, NT will just hang and the window that asks where to save the backup never pops up. I have to force close NT via Task Manger when this happens. I am unsure if this issue is related to the compiling hanging issue. But I hope it gives a clue to the dev team.

I'm having this issue as well. It isn't a "long" compile time. It is hung... I let it run for 24 hours, and it never finished. The only solution is to kill NinjaTrader.

                                Hello ender_wiggum,

I've added your post in the notes for this report to our development.

Our developers are looking into the issue and will hopefully have this resolved in an upcoming release of NinjaTrader.
