Where to start if I want to create a strategy on a trading set-up?

Yes, that's correct. tradecounter++ adds one to its value. It's equivalent to saying:

tradecounter = tradecounter + 1

When you add it to your EnterLong and EnterShort conditions then you are increasing its value by one in the same block that places your entries.

My 1 trade/day code does not kick in (per enclosed) .

FYI: My strategy has several Entry conditions which may have caused this issue, ie each Entry condition will count once. Appreciate your guidance on resolving the same please as I only want 1 trade/day to minimize my risk exposure. Thank you.

You will have to debug your code to verify all the values are what you expect. Printing the value of tradeCounter should be helpful to see.

Thanks Ryan for the additional tips. I went through my script again and compared it with the sample one. Noticed an inadvertent omission. I have the revised strategy (with a performance code) on (started 14 May) and the trade log now only has one 14 May trade.

Maybe the 1 trade/day code is working. I will market replay it on the days that triggered multiple trades to confirm. Wish me luck.

How to resolve text label's overlapping?

Thanks Ryan for the suggested link. I went through it and unfortunately the zip sample does not cover String Alignment. I tried F1 Help and it suggested the following 3 Alignment codes:

- StringAlignment.Center (current one)
- StringAlignment.Far
- StringAlignment.Near

I tried both "Far" and "Near". They do not resolve the text overlapping issue. Is there a link educating me how to adjust the location of the label so that they won't over-lap? Appreciate your further guidance. Thanks.

I'm not aware of additional string formatting reference material. Since you are working with C#, there may be additional references available at MSDN.

I haven't seen your code to confirm, but if you have multiple elements drawing at the same price level, then this could explain what you're seeing. You'll have to separate the Y value where they are drawn.

Typically items are drawn at a tick offset from lows or highs. You could check your draw statements to see these levels and adjust accordingly.

Example of three drawn items at different price levels:

Need your guidance please. I located a really cool indicator that will plot different color bars for trade signals. My challenge is to tell the High and Low of the bar so that I can place breakout orders properly. Missing 1-2 ticks will break the trade.
