    FX Contracts Always Showing Negative

    Hello,

I have NT6.5 with IB and had experienced (still experiencing) NT freezing, and as suggested by NT Support, did an upgrade to the latest build (14). I did a complete des-installation and a complete clean re-installation.

Now I'm experiencing the following annoying situations:

    1. FX contracts always show negative trade execution on charts and Strategies tab. Even when it clearly had a profit on a trade, the chart will show a red line and the Strategies tab will show -5$

    2. Entering a normal contract size of 25,000 (for EURUSD for instance), will trigger an error saying that the account size has been exceeded and that I should reduce the contract size.

Now, this used to work fine with the old installation. NT support had suggested doing a reset for this error. But this is a clean installation and this is the first trade. Since I removed all the leftover directories under "My Documents".

    3. Also the constant freezing that has been suddenly occurring the last week or two (which caused me to do the re-installation). The complete re-install slightly improved things but not to a satisfactory degree. A roll back to IB's TWS build 887 didn't help either.

FX quote is set as "half-Pip" in the config. Is there something that I'm forgetting to set or is the problem somewhere else?

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Obi

Obi, thanks for the post - is this on TWS 898.4 as we recommend here - http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/su...ivebrokers.htm ?

For the order placement error, in simulation only regular lots would be supported, so please adjust to 1 for regular 100K FX spot lot.

If you execute to a IB Paper or Live account, you would then need to enter the order quantity in units, 100000 for a full lot.

For the freezing you still see, please contact us with your logs and trace using the Help > Mail to Support feature, thanks

      Hi Bertrand,

Yes, I am using the latest TWS 898 ( I did revert back, for test purposes, just in case. But I have re-installed and am running TWS 898).

The execution is on IB Live account, and as mentioned before 25K contract size (for a mini lot) gives an "Exceed account size error) and this used to work fine until the re-install.

However, the most annoying thing is still the always Negative showing results on both charts and Strategies Tab.

I have sent already the log to you guys. I will send you the trace.

In the meantime, would you please tell me what with the negative showings and the contract size.

      Cheers,
      Obi

Obi, great, will look for your files - are you trading those FX products on Ideal or Ideal Pro?

Would it be possible for you to post a screenshot of the chart and strategies so I can check into the exact issue?

        Is this automated trading only?

Yes, this is automated trading only and IDEAL PRO.

Again, other than re-installing NT 6.5, everything else is the same and nothing has changed on my setups.

          Screenshots attached.

          Cheers

Thanks Obi, are you sure you're in sync as you start up the strategy for realtime trading? http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...tPosition.html

Also: which setting are you using under Tools > Options > Strategies > NinjaScript?

                Hi,

Yes I am sure. Again, this used to work fine before I did the re-install.

My settings arei as shown in the attached picture.

Hmm thanks, those look all good - are you seeing the same with the SampleMACrossOver strategy?

                    Hello,

To avoid any discussion, I have done exactly as you requested and you keep sending me to do things which clearly would not make any difference. What else do you want to see from "SimpleMACross" strategy that you don't see already.

You buy Low and sell high --- > result profit, regardless of the strategy used.

I REALLY NEED these resolved, therefore, I am not trying to blame you on anything. Nothing, nor anyone is perfect in this life. I am under pressure and growing frustrated by the minute. I have lived with NT shortcomings for years and have always found workaround on things that are not as they should and kept my mouth shut and get on with my own work.

This however, is different since there is no workaround that I am aware of and therefore I need your help.

I am a begging client, that is begging you to have an issue fixed with your product.

I’m running a business and really, really, really need this fixed somehow and sometime soon.

Could you please really look and ask around as to where the problem might be and we can all go on with our lives and businesses.

Thank you so much for your understanding and co-operation.

                    Eagerly awaiting for the resolution

                    Regards,

Obi, thanks for the screenshot and sorry for the involved frustrations. Does the same happen for you with the SampleMACross provided by us? I'm just trying to iron out where the issues stem from and how to arrive at a simple, reproducible scenario so I can reproduce it inhouse here. Have you already tried reinstalling the .NET framework completely fresh?

                          Bertrand,

I appreciate the fact that you are giving it a go. But there are technical boundaries which one should bare in mind when looking for a solution.

As stated many times today alone, nothing else of my environment has changed. In any kind of environment/science, if you are trying to do a regression test (Before and after), you keep everything as equal as possible, and only change one parameter at a time.

That parameter in our case today is the before re-installation and after re-installation of NT 6.5.

"Scientifically" speaking, I should get the same results, everything being equal. If I do not, then the more likely conclusion to be taken is that of NT 6.5 not having a deterministic behaviour.

Do you want me to re-install my OS next?

                          Still eagerly awaiting.

PS: And yes, I did run the simpleCross, as I knew you would ask. And yes the results are the same.

                            Obi,

Things can change on your computer without you knowing about it. As such all we are trying to do is isolate a base case right now which is necessary to drive any further support efforts. You say you experience the same behavior with SampleMACrossOver in that profitable trades are marked as red. This is a critical piece of information. Please confirm if that is what you are saying.

If that is the case please uninstall NinjaTrader 6.5 completely (include deleting Documents\NinjaTrader 6.5) and uninstall/reinstall .NET. Then reinstall a completely fresh NinjaTrader 6.5. Then try again with SampleMACrossOver. Until SampleMACrossOver works, you should not try importing any custom NinjaScript strategies or indicators to this install.

                              Hi Josh,

That is what I already did yesterday, the re-install that is. Bare in mind, I did the complete re-install on TWO different PC's and as having done many regression tests, professionally that is, I try not to change ANYTHING, related or non-related, directly or indirectly, on both workstations. And no one else has any access to my office.

And as I mentioned to Bertrand, I completely understand that you are trying to isolate the issues. But I have been doing all that since yesterday.

I will comply and erase everything, again, on both PC.

Will be back with you in half an hour.
