I do not follow your lower left circle. The low price did not penetrate the PSAR and so it should not have reversed there.
The line indicates the same price point for the indicator as the next bar dropped to, it should have reversed.

      kocmodpom,

ParabolicSAR requires it to drop to the dot and pass the dot to actually reverse. Remember there will be instances where it reaches the perceived value of the dot, but will not reverse because it has not actually reached the true value.

For instance, PSAR could be at 1270.749901. Your price reaches 1270.75. The PSAR will show up rounded as 1270.75, your low would be 1270.75, but these values have not touched and therefore will stay its course.

So it sounds like I will have to somehow create a custom Parabolic that will reflect actual market conditions....curses

          kocmodpom,

As stated in post #7, we are working on a few issues and will release another version shortly. In this version it will still require a penetration to reverse because that is what ParabolicSAR is defined as, but it should fix some other lingering issues. Thank you for your patience.

              testing

I don't think this is supposed to happen....

So which of these Parabolics is correct?

I think NT fix is right, I have removed mine.

But why would it have been reversing where it did in post #21 then? Your version wouldn't have reversed at that point, it would have just placed the next dot at the top of the bar which seems correct to me.

If it reverses like that there is no way a stop order can be triggered and you are left hanging. It is a nonentry. That doesn't make sense.

I encourage you to leave your version up but annotate that it is an unofficial version of the indicator. If my computer crashes I won't have access to it. Perhaps there is a way to do the same mod you did with their version or something.

With the "fixed" version, it makes an autotrade strategy using the parabolic impossible to program correctly.

I removed mine to avoid more confusions and questions you just asked.
I fixed it last night just to make sure that SAR dot is not inside candle.
Last night I thought that my calculations are right, however I did some more "diging" today regarding ParabolicSAR and I have to admit that NT fix is "more right" than mine.

Thanks for testing and commenting back.

I have to say automated strategy development using the Parabolic SAR and stop orders in NinjaTrader is the most maddening thing I have ever encountered, and I got to say taking General Relativity as a grad student was no picnic either, but I am about this close "" to giving up on NT.

All I have been trying to do for months is make a ultra simple strategy with the parabolic and it always craps out. Always.

Clearly there is a whole 0.25 points inbetween the Parabolic at 11:45 AM (1286.50) and the highest price at 11:50 AM (1286.25). So why did it reverse on the next bar instead of just placing the next Parabolic value at 1286.25??????

May be this will explain how ParabolicSAR is working

I totally get why you want the Ninja version of PSAR to work.

But, until it does, you might also try a third party Parabolic indicator if it is that important for you. For instance, in the Blue Wave package I have a Parabolic SAR that looks to do a good job. Not free though. And I have no idea if it has any bugs in it or not, as I don't use it.

Here is a screen of it in case it is helpful.

I get it. I need to take the fixed version of the Parabolic and edit it to do what I want it to. I am not a programmer but it seems that is what must be done. Thanks!

You have two versions now. And both are not good? So what kind of SAR are you looking for?
