I've been using NT 6.5 for some time and then a few weeks ago I was using a demo mode until the funds were restored in my account at my brokerage. Now when I tried to restart NT 6.5 in the live mode I evidently didn't have the right license key that you had supplied when we all had to upgrade to a new key. And when I asked support about this in an email they told me I'd have to buy a key and it was no longer free. What?!!! What's up with that? I was using it and it worked fine. And I have data feed issues with NT 7. You won't supply me with the free license key I was already using because there was a brief disruption? And you want me to buy one? Really?

Hi,

Just wondering why there is not a response to this thread or should I be directed else where for the answer. I am going to be in the same situation shortly or refunding my account and starting live again.

Thanks for your help. I was using NT 6.5 already for a long time. Is NinjaTrader going to make me buy a license because it was disrupted for a couple of weeks until my account was refunded? The Direct free license is available for NinjaTrader 7 and will continue to be available, if you would like to use NinjaTrader 6.5 for live trading you will need to purchase a live license from our website as changes were made that have disabled usage of the Direct key with NinjaTrader 6.5. I encourage you to download NinjaTrader 7 and utilize it as it has been enhanced for customer usage, it will not be too different with the Direct license key as many enhancements are available with the purchased version of NinjaTrader 7!

BTW, as I mentioned, the Zen-Fire data feed for NT 7 has continuing issues. Right now, on Sunday night, none of the data from Friday shows up on the chart for CL 03-11. This is even after I reset the instruments and did a DB repair and closed the software and reopened it. I just want something that works which NT 6.5 has lately.
If I had known this was going to be an issue I would have copied the original license key and pasted it back in when I was finished using the demo while my account was being refunded.Last edited by bce111; 01-30-2011, 06:09 PM.

Since this is ultimately as Sales Department issue, it will be necessary to look at licensing information which is not appropriate to communicate on a public forum for obvious security reasons. Additionally, I would need to confer with the Sales Department to make sure you receive accurate information related to your question.

Thanks very much for your help. No one has emailed me back yet or responded here obviously. It's been a couple of days since I originally posted and I sent the original email out about 5 days ago. I'm not a bad guy. I just want some software that works. And I was already using NT 6.5 for about a year uninterrupted. If I had known this would be an issue I would have copied the license key and reinstalled it when I switched out of the demo mode once my account was refunded. I can understand if you don't want to issue a free license key for NT 6.5 to some new trader, but that's not me. I've had problems with NT 7 as I mentioned. It's nothing personal. I'm sure everyone worked hard on it and is working hard to make it great. But in the meantime I just want something reliable I can trade with. I missed trades now just dealing with all this and the problems I had with NT 7. Once the glitches are fixed I'd be happy to use it.
Customer service is paramount in any business. Think of how you guys feel when you have a problem with something. I'm sorry this has become so drawn out. It shouldn't.

I was able to find your email address and direct edition license key. Your direct edition license key was issued in advance of the December 1, 2010 transition to NT7 so you are grandfathered in for the original features of the direct edition license and the license is also compatible with both NT6.5 and NT7. I have tested your direct edition license and as you state it is not working with NT6.5. I will now need to have your license manually recreated to get it back to the original functionality it contained. To do so I will need to route it to a colleague to make the change which I will do so now although we will need to wait for him to do this when he arrives in the office tomorrow. I will update you again once the license has been recreated.

I really appreciate the help with reestablishing my license. Please thank whoever was involved. I just opened NT 6.5 now and it seems to be working fine. I had NT 7 opened earlier. I'll eventually transition over to this one but just wanted something that would work without any problems in the meantime.
