Hmmm, well I guess most on these forums are connecting through the internet so I don't know why they threw that into the mix. I am trying this indicator starting this morning and had huge lag, over 10 seconds, at 10:48 this AM EDT. I have a 15 Mb connection so I must be one of the 1/3 affected.

VT...could you post a screen shot of your indicator settings on TickTime Plot when you have time ??...
Also, now have my charts with the lag indicator set to update every 0.1 second...can this make a difference ??....they were set to 0.25 & 1 second before...but seem to be running the same at 0.1.
Thanks...Last edited by Alfred; 10-05-2009, 09:22 AM.

Pissed off in LA
Ridiculous lag this morning. WHAT IS GOING ON??? So much for the weekend fix, huh?. Charts freezing. Trades hanging in no mans land 'til the candles start moving again. TRADERS SITTING IN THE DARK, HOPING THEIR TRADE WORKED OUT...
I'm trading with a group of guys from all around the world -- ALL on Mirus/ZenFire/NT; all on VERY capable machines and connections, yet we're all locking up and lagging. Everyone knows how to repair DB and restart etc. (not that we should have to).
And then to be told "switch indies to Calculate on Bar close" it's naive in the extreme. Do you guys at Ninja actually ever trade? You've obviously no idea how people trade momentum etc, otherwise you wouldn't make such an "it must be the customer's fault" type of suggestion.
Very few, basic indicators; no crap on the machines; we're not trying to play Halo at the same time...
I repeat: WHAT IS GOING ON??? And why won't someone step up to the plate and fix this amateurish nonsense?
Must be getting close to the point where we can consider grouping together and demanding a backdated refund from NT and Zen?

Deletion of posts is not encouraging...
Dear NT Support,
It appears there is a situation here which is definitely causing some widespread irritation amongst the NT client base. Nothing new....that's business. But the sad part is that the responses I've seen so far to this situation have mainly consisted of tossing the problem squarely back into the laps (or laptops) of the clientele, rather than doing anything visibly proactive to rectify the problem. Not saying you aren't doing anything, just saying it isn't readily apparent.
Surely from a business standpoint you have to understand (well, if you don't understand, you certainly need to...) that this type of "non-response" response is only going to generate unwanted negativity and foster an adversarial spirit between you, the vendor, and us, your clientele...making all future crises more prone to the same? And now you're deleting posts? Is that really a good policy? I think not...
Rather than policing the "tone" of this forum, perhaps you should invest a bit more time and energy into proactively assessing, reacting to, and correcting the actual problems that your paying customers are experiencing. I think this would go quite a long way towards:
1. retaining the paying customers you still have
2. helping to create a positive information exchange between you and your clients
3. helping to create a loyal customer base that is self-policing by fostering a tangible sense of trust in your desire and ability to positively respond to valid customer issues
4. helping you shift to a state of acquiring NEW paying customers, rather than a state of alienating your existing customer base.
Wishing you all the best in your efforts with this current crisis...have a great day!

Guys,
- I understand that you guys are frustrated
- I understand the need to vent and hold someone accountable
There are two issues merging into one here and I want to ensure that we keep them separate.
1) Lagging of data feed
2) NinjaTrader performance issues during volatile market activity
On issue #1.
- Zen-Fire had confirmed latency issues last week
- Steps have been taken over the weekend to resolve this
- Further steps will be taken to ensure it does not happen again
- The Tick latency indicator appears to be flawed and inaccurate (I have not verified this but was provided to me from someone at Zen-Fire), I believe someone will post the reason why here shortly
On issue #2
- Unlike other trading platforms, NinjaTrader updates UI's based on every market data change
- Other platforms timer update their UI's
- Depending on each individual user settings, you can make NT perform optimized or make it come to its knees (since we provide this flexibility in the software)
- If your application locks up --> This for sure is a NinjaTrader issue
- We have provided tips on how to optimize NT 6.5 for performance --> Your choice of course on what you may wish to tweak...or not
- In NinjaTrader 7, we have made drastics changes and improvements to ensure lower CPU footprint
For those who feel they their problem lies with issue #2, I am happy to add your name to our 1st round of beta testing so that you could check to see if the changes we made in NT7 in fact would resolve your issue. If this is of interest, please send a note to or support email, reference this post, request beta access and include comment that you are experience locks ups.RayNinjaTrader Customer Service
