Live vs Historical
I discovered something today that I find very concerning. I use volume bar charts for my trading. I was viewing one chart of a certain interval throughout the day, and just recently I opened a new chart of the same interval. This chart looks different from the one that was still open from regular NY trading hours. By different, I mean the highs, lows, and close of many bars are different depending on which chart you look at, even though they are of the same volume bar interval. Why is this the case? Thanks.Last edited by Radical; 06-16-2009, 04:45 PM.Tags: None

Hello Radical,
Unfortunately this can be as expected with Zen-Fire.
Zen-Fire itself does not provide any historical data. As a courtesy we allow Zen-Fire users to make use of our historical data server, which can differ from the real-time data received by Zen-Fire.
If you like to work with real-time data from Zen-Fire only, you can disable historical data in the Zen-Fire connection. Go to Tools-->Options-->Data-tab and enable 'Store real-time bar data', so all incoming real-time chart data will be saved in the database.

If I want to use only Zen-fire data do I need to do both of these steps or only the second?Originally posted by NinjaTrader_Jason View PostHello Radical,

1. In "Account conection setup" click on "Historical data -> Disabled, I will use another connection for historical data"
2. Tools-->Options-->Data-tab and enable 'Store real-time bar data'

That doesn't seem to work. I have store real-time bar data checked, and I have disable historical data in my account connection, but when I open a volume chart for today, it shows the historical data from your server, not the data I supposedly stored from my Zen-Fire connection.

Hi Radical,
Thank you for your reply.
I'm not following. Zen-Fire itself provides no historical data. As a courtesy, we offer historical data for Zen-Fire users. However, NinjaTrader will not request data from our servers if the historical data option is disabled.
What exactly occurs when you open a tick chart when connected to Zen-Fire? If you disconnect and open the same chart, are they the same?KyleNinjaTrader Customer Service

If I open a tick chart while connected to Zen-Fire with historical data disabled, and the chart is set to show the last 3 days, the chart will open and it will show the last 3 days, even for times when I certainly was not connected to Zen-Fire. And yes, if I disconnect and open the same chart, they are the same.

Hi Radical,
Thank you for your reply and the clarification.
This is because the data is saved in to your local database. You can remove it using the procedure outlined at the following link: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...V6/Delete.htmlKyleNinjaTrader Customer Service
