How do I reload historical data in the DB...?

Here's my problem. I have a single strategy that loads 60+ symbols. I'd like to run a backtest on these 60 symbols over the last 2 weeks.

The problem is that at least *one* of these symbols has a gap in the historical data. When I try to run a backtest starting on May 11th, the bars aren't actually fed into my strategy until May 19th.

So, now what do I do? Using Tools->Historical Data->Delete on 60 symbols is just a pain in the ass.

In the past, I've just deleted the entire database and forced a reload. But I've setup numerous instruments now, and I don't want to have to re-do all of that work. Is there a good solution here??

Hi heech, unfortunately I think you would need to check the charts of the symbols you need and then determine which ones are missing the data and reloading those then.

Hi Bertrand, I would like to delete my entire historical database and reload everything using another data provider (yahoo because of splits) it from scratch. I am not sure what is the easiest way to do it.

For the chart data, you can go into the Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db folder (with NT7 closed) and delete the tick, day and minute folders - this will provide an emtpy state then on next startup, so you would then connect to your new provide and load data fresh.

          Great.

I see here (http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...rical_data.htm) that tradestation delivers split adjusted data but I don't see them in the account connections manager?

You would connect to TS using the presetup External Data Feed connection.

OK, I'll look at http://www.ninjatrader.com/Connectio...nnection-Guide to set it up because if I understand correctly their data are pre-adjusted for splits and dividend?

I don't find their names in the provider list? strange or I am blind?

Correct, the data should be split and dividend adjusted.

You would not find them in the provider list - you connect to the External Feed and it would then take the data from the NTExternalFeed strategy running on your TS chart.

For historical data, you would work with the NTDataDownload strategy we supply as well - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...n%2Bhistorical

Ok, I do not need real time data so for historical data it should be easier to work with Google (or barchart?) then?

Correct, with native historical data downloads over the connection that would be easier.

Final question (!), is barchart better than google for this?

With a dedicated managed feed on subscription basis, I would expect the former to have potentially higher fidelity data, but would not be in the position to make a final call on that.
