Cant receive TRIN/TICK in linking TD ameritrade

OK I can get data for TICK and TRIN with TD Ameritrade in the control panel. But if I try to load a chart with either of those symbols, it just gets stuck at the "Loading data for ..." screen. The charts do not load for those symbols. I just installed the latest version of NT.

Please advise.

Unfortunately only real-time data is supported as per the release notes and no historical data.

Shouldn't it at least chart the real time feed from when I create the chart?

Unfortunately this is as expected. TD AMERITRADE does not have logic in place that will throw an error upon a historical data request that is invalid.

This will cause the historical data request to get 'stuck'.

TDAmeritrade $TRIN

If TDA only supplies real time data for $TRIN, how would it be possible for Ninja to ever load any $TRIN chart from TDA, since Ninja always asks for historical data?

Is there a way to tell Ninja to not ask for historical data?

1.) If no historical data is available for an instrument, NinjaTrader will plot only data received from the time that the chart is opened on.

2.) It is possible to disable historical data on a TD Ameritrade connection. Please take the following steps:

• From the Control Center, click Tools > Account Connections.
• In the Account Connections menu, select the TD Ameritrade connection, then click Change.
• In the Wizard screen where you give the connection a name, set the Historical Data radio button to 'Disabled, I will use another connection for historical data.', then click through the remainder of the screens in the wizard to apply this change.

1. I was expecting it to just start with the real time plotting but it doesn't work that way on my chart. The "Retrieving data for ^TRIN This request can not be aborted." notice never goes away and the chart stays blank. I have to close NT to get rid of it.

If I disable historical data in the Account Connections..., I do not get the "Retrieving data for ^TRIN This request can not be aborted." notice, but the chart still stays blank.

I am using the symbol map of $TRIN.X in the Instrument Manager for TDA's TRIN.

2. I would only want to disable historical data for symbols that do not have it, like TDA's $TRIN.X. I still need it for everything else.

When creating a new $TICK chart, please set the 'days back' property in the Format Data Series window to '0'. This should allow you to open the chart without requesting historical data for this instrument.

The minimum "Days Back" value is "1". At least it is in my v6.5.1000.14

Yeah that works for me too...BUT...

1) I need historical data for everything else.

2) On the TDA website, $TRIN.X is their symbol for TRIN. This raises the question of what is the symbol map for the data feed to Ninja? Why would it be different?

I tried $TRIN.X as symbol map, but I did not receive any data.

$TRIN resulted in real-time data. I am not sure why this is different.

Unfortunately I see no other workaround other than connecting to an additional supported data feed that provides such data.
