Same issue, but 6 months later. Refer to this post. I try to place a trade and greeting with the message indicating I don't have enough margin excess, even though I've always traded fine with 1 contract on MNQ.

Wtf? That's an insane increase of margin required. Is there anything regarding when or IF it will come back down to what it used to be?

Hi cadebenoit123,

If you trade intraday, you use the intraday margin; if you trade overnight, you must use the initial margin.

Here are some examples updated to today:
Ticket | Intraday margin | Initial margin
MES | 50 | 1626
MNQ | 100 | 2447
MCL | 100 | 603
MGC | 200 | 1375

You must verify before making the operation that you have enough money according to the instrument and the number of contracts.
