3rd Party Licensing Error w/ Vendor Names with 2 cap letters

I've contacted support about this issue in the past and it was confirmed a bug by support, but it seems nothing has been done. When you go to the 3rd party licensing steps within NinjaTrader 7.0.1000.43, it gives an error with my Vendor ID ("Invalid vendor name. Please try again"). I believe the issue is because my Vendor name has two capital letters. Everything works fine within NinjaTrader 8.

I had a customer that I could not enable because of this. Now that I upgraded my personal development computer, I also need to reenter this information on my own computer as well... but I can't.

Is there a way to manually enter information into an XML file? Is there some other way around this?

    Hello neoikon,

    Thank you for your message.

NinjaTrader 7 is no longer receiving updates, so if there was a functionality that didn’t work previously, it won’t be addressed in NinjaTrader 7.

NinjaTrader 8 is our most recent version and continues to receive updates. Since the functionality works in NinjaTrader 8, it indicates that the issue was resolved in this version.
    • Moving forward, you can continue using NinjaTrader 8 for this to work properly.

For licensing or add-on-related queries specific to NinjaTrader 7, we recommend reaching out to the developer of the add-on for further assistance or clarification.
    • If you are the developer, then please reach out to the ScriptingSupport[AT]NinjaTrader[DOT]com email directly for further help and information.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with.

I am the developer of the indicator/add-on. I've been developing and selling NinjaTrader indicators for over 12 years. So, now I simply cannot update my customer's licenses when they bought a lifetime license from me. Ah well.

I can authorize my NT7 credentials for licensing in both NT7 and NT8 with two capital letters in the Vendor Name. The big issue is not being able to generate license ID's in NT7 and being forced to used only machine ID's like in 6.5. This is a bug that started sometime before I received complaints from customers around 1/4/2024. This was NOT a bug from before NT8 was introduced. Multiple emails to support around that time produced no results.

            Hello eDanny,

            Thank you for your post.

Support for the 3rd Party Licensing "User Defined IDs" is no longer available in NinjaTrader 7. If you need further details or information please write to us at vendorsupport[at]ninjatrader[dot]com.

Hi, the issue seems related to how NinjaTrader 7 handles Vendor IDs with two capital letters. While waiting for an official fix, you can manually edit the XML file storing licensing data. Locate the XML file in the NinjaTrader 7 installation directory (e.g., Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom). Open it with a text editor and add the licensing information manually, matching the required format. Be cautious when editing, and back up the file first. Alternatively, consider continuing with NinjaTrader 8 where the issue is resolved.

Exactly! This was actually removed, if I believe what you said. Functionality should have continued with nothing added or REMOVED after support ended. Must be you consider User Defined ID's as user support.
