All my charts are working after following your advice. Any idea of how to avoid this situation or what causes it so I needn't trouble you again? Is a re-install a good idea?

I suspect NinjaTrader requests too much data and resources and as a result NinjaTrader freezes and does not finish loading your charts.
Please check if you are running workspaces in the background (these will request data and resources as well) and close them. Please go to File-->Workspaces and close all workspaces listed below "Save Workspace As" except the Default workspace. Select the workspace and go to File-->Workspaces-->Close Workspace.
I suggest to reduce the data/resource request by reducing the windows you have opened or indicators you have running in your charts.
In addition, setting "Calulate on bar close" to True for indicators will reduce resource request as well.
Create a new chart after reducing the resource request and check if it will display data.JasonNinjaTrader Customer Service
