IB Forex traing and position management

    Hi!

NT shows a strnage behaviour in combination with the lot size for Forex.
I have implemented a strategy which handels two targets and a trailing stop. If the first target is hit, then the rest of the portion is moved to breakeven. Starts trailing. But what I see is that the positionsize then will be decreased each tick by three.
I do not unterstand why or what's the problem.
This problem accours evertime...each currency pair, each position size.

    setup:
    positonsize: 0,2M
stop is 50 ticks for target 1 and two
Profit target 1 is 25 ticks
    Profit target 2 is zero

    No stop strategy for Target1

    Stop strategy fot Target 2:
    Profittrigger 25 Plus 3

    StopLoss 25
    Frequency 20
    Profittrigger 20

I start the atmstrategy by NT script!
Hope you understand what I mean

    I need a little help!!!!!

    Hello,

Are you doing this in the DOM or in NinjaScript. If you are doing this in NinjaScript, you will need to post some code for us to help you.

If you are doing this in the DOM please let me know.

Markus, You should review the help file on setting up an ATM Strategy, since what you've defined as a Stop Strategy is inconsistent.

The Auto Breakeven settings will cause NinjaTrader to pull your stop up to 3 ticks above your entry when you have a profit of 25 ticks, thus guaranteeing you 3 ticks of profit if nothing else is done.

But the Auto Trail settings will set the trailing stop loss at 25 ticks below the current price when the current price achieves a profit of 20 ticks, which would move the stop back to giving you a 5 tick loss if you get stopped out at that point.

I'm not sure which of these takes precedence... I suggest doing some replay testing to find out.

I've never seen an Auto Breakeven profit trigger set higher than the Auto Trail profit trigger amount and don't know if this will produce the deisred results. It seems to be counter to the example found at : http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/H...rategyExample2

      Good luck.

        Hi Ben,

I do that with both. But here is my code!
The problem is, that if I use a "fractional" quantity for IB like 0,04M than I became problems with the position sizes otherwise the code runs perfectly. The strategy always makes partial fills. And I don't know why. This is the same behaviour with an ATM running on the chart. If I use trailing stops.

        Maybe you find my fault!
The pictures are showing the entry and the first target hit scenarios.
        Hope that helps!!!!

        Thanks
        Markus

          cicondo,

Being partial filled is a viable state to be in. What exactly is the problem you are having after you get a partial fill?

            Hi Josh,

I have no problem to be partially filled, but it makes no sense for me in the forex market to cover a position in such a small size. In the stock market that is an other marketplace.
But if I get partially filled I have to pay commissions and I'm getting poor within such behaviour. And that's my problem.

            I hope you understand
            Thanks
            Markus

              Hello,

I am sorry, this is something you will need to talk to your broker/exchange about. We do not control whether you get partially filled.
