Sound File in Strategy not playing

    Hello

I use a custom strategy that plays a sound alert when certain criteria are met. This always used to work but it won't work anymore on the new computer I bought recently (I installed NT 7 B15).

I get the following error message in the log:
Unable to play sound file C:\Program Files\Ninja Trader 7\sounds\Alert2.wav: Not found on hard drive.

I obviously understand this error message but I double-checked the path of the sound file and it is correct (it is located where all the other standard Ninja sound files are).

Any idea on why this is happening?

    Thanks

    pcm files

    laocoon

    check here

I would suggest you try linking to a few files to see if any work. Its a tricky problem that I thought NT had solved?

laocoon, can you please recheck if you get the same issue with using out latest beta build 16? To me it seems like your path is off and therefore the file can't be properly located.

@ Mindset: thanks for your suggestion, I'm currently going through the thread you mentioned.

@Bertrand: I'll install B16 after the end of today's session and will report back on how it goes. Thanks.

          Thought

          is your new computer 64bit?
if so your file path needs changing to Program Files (x86).
          Just a thought.

Yes, it is a 64 bit indeed and I tried the modify the path by adding (x86) like you suggested (thanks for that), but it doesn't work either.

            Will try B16 tonight.

did you try downloading the alert1.zip file in the link I sent - that solved my issue?

yes, tried that but it unfortunately didn't change anything.

Mindset: I just noticed that the title of your last post was "pcm file", but the format of the zip file is .wav.

                  Am I missing something here?

                  Thanks

                    no

The zip file is a pcm wav file of alert1.wav ( whatever that is) - which is what NT can play. Apparently there are other 'types' of wav file ( I don't know how you can tell btw).
If you have replaced your existing sound file with that one it could have done the trick.
Afraid support may have to get you out of this one as I am all out of ideas :-(

There was an issue on Win7 systems some time ago with the non PCM wave type files, but those were resolved and this should not be the same issue as you had with the 'file / path not found' error message laocoon - I would suggest rechecking on our B16 as noted later, then please let me know if this still is an issue after the upgrade - thanks.

OK, I upgraded to B16 and double-checked the path, but it doesn't work.
                        Here's my code line:

                        PlaySound(@"C:\Program Files(x86)\NinjaTrader 7\sounds\Alert2.wav");

Not sure what to do next.

                          laocoon, please try changing the PlaySound call to PlaySound("Alert2.wav");

                          Would that make a difference?

                            Yes, it's working!

                            Thanks a lot.

I'm having problems again with Sound Files. It seems that Ninja can only play the default sound files from the sounds folder. I recorded a custom sound file today with the Windows (7) Sound Recorder but when I include it in a strategy I get the following error message: Unable to play sound file. Not found on hard drive.

It cannot be a problem related to an incorrect path because when I replace the custom file with a default file, it works.

What can be done about that?
