NT7 Beta 12 Locking up computer on restart.
My computer was locking up upon restart of NT. It was suggested by tech support to remove workspace from folder and see effect. Well removing my workspace allowed NT to start normally and to be functional. So now what do I do? Apparently the workspace I created is problematic but I need that workspace. Workspace works beautifully after being created. No problems until I close and later restart. Rebooting, repairing .net, reinstaling NT; nothing works except removing workspace from Workspace folder. When ever I then return the workspace to the folder and try to reopen NT computer locks every time.

jackh, could you please send us (to support at ninjatrader dot com attention thred 27348) the offending workspace files from <My Document>/NinjaTrader 7/workspaces? Could you also send us the trace files from the days where NT7 has crashed upon loading the workspace from <My Docs>/NT 7/trace? Thank you.AustinNinjaTrader Customer Service

This may be helpful.
I had all of the exact same problems. I tried everything and NT Support could not duplicate the problem or figure it out. I could remove the workspace and it would work fine. I could rebuild the workspace and it would work fine UNTIL closing and reopening the program. Then, it would not load.
I resolved this only after doing a fresh install and NOT importing anything. I believe the import process is corrupt somehow. It was a pain to rebuild everything from , but it completely resolved my problem that was making NT 7 totally unworkable for me.
Hope this helps.

JackH,
Just referring to when NT 7 is installed, not importing anything like data, charts, MA's, workspaces, etc,. from 6.5 or a previous version. All my problems were solved when I did a completely fresh install and built everything from scratch. Of course, I had to import indicators fresh.
Good Luck.

Hot Dog, before today, I never had V6.5 installed on my computer when installing V7. I was trying to be as clean as possible. However, today I could not mess around anymore with V7 issues and so I installed V6.5. I then reinstalled V7 again and left 6.5 installed, in response to NT support wanting me to replicate my freeze up on restart for the nth time.
Anyway, today, I saw the message your were refering to about importing 6.5 files. So I did not do that. However, my problems persist and NT Support says they are examining my files now.
My main question to you now though is: Do you use Fin-Alg TPO Charts?
Because that is where I think my problems arise. And I am not sure who needs to do what between NT and Fin-Alg to solve this problem.

jackh,
Please see the release notes of Beta 13 (please upgrade to this version). You should not use any 3rd party components at this time as they are not guaranteed to work. Please uninstall the component and ensure NT7 is behaving as expected. When RemoteSoft issues are resolved then the vendor will be able to send you new distributions for your components for NT7 use. Thank you.Josh P.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Hi jackh,
Currently, the release notes are available in the help guide included in the software only.
With a NinjaTrader 7 window selected, click the F1 key on your keyboard to load the guide. Near the top of the contents menu, you will find 'Release Notes' listed.KyleNinjaTrader Customer Service

I thought two of the main functions of release notes were to help customers decide if a new release is beneficial to them and then guide those interested in such in the proper installation procedure.
I do not understand why you are handling release notes in this manner.
What is the problem for you with regard to allowing release notes to be read prior to installation?

jackh,
As part of the beta process the purpose is to stabilize the latest beta. It is not beneficial or efficient for us to continue supporting old beta versions. In a production release, it makes sense to provide release notes so the user can decide whether to upgrade or not. In beta, it does not serve the beta process well when beta users do not upgrade to the latest beta and continue using old versions. This would result in the development team chasing old bugs that were already fixed or phantom issues that no longer exist. End result of this would mean a drastic slow down in our ability to iron out bugs and get NT7 to a production release which is not desirable for all parties involved. Reason we do not provide notes besides in-product is in a way to strongly suggest beta testers to upgrade to the latest version. Thank you for your understanding.Josh P.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Jackh,
I do not use the program you are referring to. Sounds like the same symptoms from different issues. Maybe upgrade to B12 would be a good idea. I have B12 and working fine on WIN 7 clean install system - dedicated to trading only. You may also consider disabling all virus scanners and resident programs to see if that helps.
I can be of no further help.
Good Luck.

Josh, thanks for your reasonable explanation regarding release notes for the Beta process. Now that I have been made aware of and reviewed such, I believe I now understand what the salient issue is in my workspace related restart freeze up problem.
I see in Fixed 3545 that you are aware of problems with reloading bar data when other than default session templates were used. Well the offending workspace in my situation was one in which I used other than default session templates.
You have my log now and it clearly shows that there were bar data reloading issues associated with session issues.
Since I have three trading computers all with V7 Beta 12 and TPO Charts. And all work well when charts are first loaded. And only the one computer, with the offending workspace, has issues on restart; I think it is fair to say that their is good evidence that this is not a computer problem or a TPO Chart problem but rather is a workspace problem. And therefore I would ask that you revisit the Fixed 3545 issue.
Thanks for your attention to this matter.Last edited by jackh; 04-01-2010, 06:28 AM.
