Fat Bar Width When Expanding Chart....

Has anything changed in the way bar width is scaled as one expands a chart ??... My impression is that bars are getting too fat too soon currently, in some cases, as one zooms in on a chart.

Below are three screen shots... 1 is bar width 1 at normal max compression...2 is bar width 7 at 7 levels of expansion with Ctrl down arrow...bars now just way too fat here in my opinion...3 is a 4 level expansion...bars also getting a bit too fat too soon here also in my view...

I have bar width set to 1 in the data series. Is there any way to control this excessive bar width as one zooms in ??

When zooming in on a similar sized chart of say 1 to 5 seconds I do not get the overly fat bars for similar levels of zooms shown in the 15 second chart screen shots below...how is this bar width working on different charts as one zooms in and out ??

    Thanks...

    Alfred,

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce. Can you try opening a new chart for your 15 secs and try again?

      Josh...

Here is a video on this...

I suspect the large pixel pitch on this 1980 X 1024 24" monitor may be making these bars seem fatter at an earlier stage of zooming in than on smaller more high resolution monitors.

      Thanks...

        Alfred,

I am unable to reproduce the width issue.

I expanded 17 levels of zoom in before the bar widths increased. When it did so it was proper in doing so and there was no squishing.

            Josh....
Did a clean install of B10...Downloaded latest video card drivers. Did the latest windows updates....still get the wide bars when zoom in. This is on a 1920 X 1080 24" monitor. B10 zoom works just like your video on my other 2 single monitor machines (with 20" high res. 1600 X 1200 monitors)... no wide bars on zoom on either of those machines....at 17 levels of zoom...

Can you test on a 1920 X 1080 24" monitor there perhaps ??... I wonder if the larger pixel pitch on the 24" monitor is giving the wider looking bars at an earlier stage of zooming in ??

Any thoughts..??...I can live with this the way it is...but am curious ...

Note added...zoom behaviour seems to depend upon how the initial compression is set up and perhaps bars loaded...sometimes when zooming in, bar width will increase for levels of zoom as shown in data series....does the bar width need to increase like this when zooming in ??...

              Alfred,

The video was recorded from a 1920x1200 monitor. Unfortunately I can't reproduce even when I go down to 1920x1080 resolution.

                  B10 Zoom Fat Bars...

                  Josh...

Here's another video...on my dual monitor system, bar width increases by 1 point for every level of zoom in (referring to the data series between zoom levels for specific bar widths)...on both of my single monitor systems bar width only increases by 1 for about every 10 levels of zoom...

What could be causing this...?? Did a clean install of B10 yesterday...

                  Thanks...

                    Alfred,

All I can suggest at this point in time is to please try without any chart templates or Data Series templates. Leave everything vanilla including session templates and anything else you may have changed.

                      Josh...

On dual monitors...here are two tick charts...one type will zoom correctly (equidistant set to true)...one does not zoom correctly (equidistant set to false)...

More pieces to the puzzle maybe...??....almost all of my charts are equidistant false.

                        Alfred,

I still can't reproduce even with equidistant false.

Can you please create a workspace on your primary monitor with only those two charts. One working and one not working and attach it here? Thank you.

                          Josh...

I deleted all chart templates and recreated one by one on new charts in a new workspace....then went back to an existing workspace and loaded the new templates...all charts will now zoom OK with one exception...the 2nd panel on a multi series chart will not zoom correctly...have fussed around but have not found the solution....any suggestions...??

Thanks for your patience on this ...

Can you manually go into the data series properties and change the width for it and then try zooming in/out?

I did finally get a multi series chart that would zoom OK in both panels and created a template for it. Then changed the bar width to 2 both panels & zoom then goes haywire...then going back to width 1 both panels...zoom still haywire both panels...applied my new multi series template and now both panels work OK...!!

Checking on a single chart that is zooming OK at width 1...change width to 2 & zoom goes haywire...change back to 1 & zoom still haywire...apply my new template for a simple chart and zoom OK now...
