    New red cross appearing

Just changed the instrument of a range chart from 6E to FDAX. Got the famous red cross appearing on the chart. This time not caused by data throttling but by simply toggling from one instrument to another.

IB does not have historical tick data, I just wanted to start a real time tick chart. Maybe this caused the exception.

This is the relevant section from the tracefile:

Cannot get rid of the Red Cross

Now I have a problem. I cannot get rid of this corrupted chart. Whatever I try to do, when I close NinjaTrader and then open it again, the corrupted chart (RED CROSS) reappears. No way to get rid of this!

        Harry,

Can you please send us your workspace containing this chart?

Question came too late, because I had no other choice than to restore from yesterday. What I wil do: Will try whether I can reproduce and then send you the workspace. Cannot promise it will work.

One recommendation Harry, next time you need to re-install because of unworkable beta environment, instead of deleting "NinjaTrader 7", rename it to something like "NinjaTrader 7.beta 10.broken" or some other descriptive name. That way you can go back and retrieve logs, traces or settings if you need. I usually keep a few versions back as I've progressed thru the beta stages in case I need to go back in time.

That's what I do as well. But I did not need to reinstall anything. I just restored my backup from the day before. I do not backup the data base, so when I restore, it is pretty fast and keeps my data alive. In case I modified any indicators or chart templates, I copy these manually to the backup folder before restoring and then put them back into the restored directory and compile them. No problem, just takes a few minutes.
