    Beta 9 and OpenTick

    I'm having a real problem with beta 9 and opentick. My workspaces load normally as long as I am not connected to opentick. However, shortly after I connect to opentick everything locks up.

    I see the popup window informing me that NT is retrieving data for a particular instrument and then it just hangs. Abort doesn't work. The only way to exit the program is to kill the process using Windows Task Manager.

    Sometimes the message "Market data error for instrument "XXXX" Duplicate Request(1008) " appears in the log and sometimes it doesn't.

    Also, the changes to Vertical Scrolling introduced in beta 9 have broken the vertical scrolling feature in the "TPO and Volume Profile Charts" available from Final | Financial Algorithms.

    - please close all workspaces (apart from Default)
    - please close any UI on the Default workspace, so only Control Center is running
    - now connect: does it work

    OpenTick adapter has not changed with 6.5.0.9.

      I am able to connect to opentick with only the default workspace open. My default workspace is empty.

      When I attempt to open my primary workspace everything locks up and the log sometimes shows the previously mentioned error messages. I have deleted and recreated the workspace once already, but NT still locks up and I am required to kill the process using Task Manager to regain control of my PC.

      My primary workspace includes a TPO chart from Final | Financial Alogrithms. As I mentioned earlier, the vertical scrolling change made in beta 9 also broke the vertical scrolling feature in this add-on.

      And another odd thing - I have multiple monitors, and the NT control center no longer opens in my primary monitor. This is also a change from beta 8.

        - please proceed as per below and try to connect with NO other UI/workspace open than control center.
        - we will come to you on the TPO issue shortly
        - workspace code has not changed with B9. I suggest trying a fresh start by deleting all workspace files in <my documents>/NinjaTrader6.5/workspaces (same as above)

          Thank you for your ongoing help

          I did as you instructed - deleted all workspace files, restarted NT and connected to opentick with NO other UI/workspace open other than the control center. As before, I was able to connect to opentick with no problems.

          I then began to rebuild my main workspace one chart at a time, saving and restarting after each additional chart. I discovered that I am able to save and reopen single chart workspaces without incident, but workspaces containing two or more charts result in the erratic behavior mentioned earlier - hanging on the data retrieval and eventually locking up the NT application.

            We would need to reproduce. Please mail me by Help->Mail to support subject "for Dierk":
            - your complete workspace files
            - your DB
            - your OT account credentials
            - also: TPO installer (if possible) plus any related license info

              Dierk,

              I just tried to send you an e-mail as requested, using the option from the help menu. I received a pop-up message telling me the mail was not sent because it was actively rejected by the mail server. It was rejected by a machine with the IP of 81.169.136.72, which appears to be near Berlin.

                - you could try setting the SMTP server you use for your regular mail by Tools->Options->Misc
                - if that does not work you could upload the package to one those free upload services (don't have one at hand right now)

                  I am experiencing real frustrations with 6.5.0.9 as well, similar to ClayB1

                      Guys, do you by chance have the Pivots or the Wooddie's pivots on your charts?

                      If so, could you please remove them from your setup and let me know if that makes any difference?

                          In my charts I do have NT Pivots for day, week, month.

                          I removed them and so far with 3 charts running I can actually get updating charts and no NT crash.

                          So you may be correct about the pivots causing this issue.

                          Will you be able to arange for this to be addressed ???

                              I am using pivots. Removing them doesn't solve the problem, but it helps.

                              The "Retreiving Data for XXXX" popup window still appears and refuses to go away, but hitting the abort button no longer locks up NT - the window just disappears and another window pops up which says something like "Error on loading chart data - aborted by user". I then click on that popup window to make it disappear and my charts magically appear.

                              Very strange indeed.
