TD Ameritrade on NT8

If I trade futures and my broker is TD Ameritrade can I use NT8 platform, which is what I would prefer, or do I have to use TOS?

Thanks for writing in.

TD Ameritrade would only support Equities instruments with NinjaTrader. I have provided a link below to our Help Guide that goes over understanding the data provided by your connectivity provider.

I am confused. Are you saying if I had a TDameritrade account I could not use Think or Swim platform?

If I use the NT8 platform, TDAmeritrade as my broker, and Kinetick as my provider, will I then be able to trade anything, via the NT8 platform, except options?
If yes, is this also true re: BarChart, eSignal, IB, IQFeed?

My reply was only in regards to using the NinjaTrader platform. With NinjaTrader, only Equities instruments would be available.

Only Equities would be supported for use with TD Ameritrade account connections. You could receive data for other instrument by supplementing with a different data provider, but I believe only Equities would be available to be actually traded.

Look at Kinetick, BarChart, eSignal, IB, IQFeed where it says "Instruments Supported E, F, FX, I".

If equities are all that's supported, why does it list everything but options?

These data providers would be separate from TD Ameritrade. With these data providers, you will receive data for these instruments. However, that does not change what instruments are supported with TD Ameritrade.

To my knowledge, only Equities may be traded through the TD Ameritrade API. In the platform, however, you can still chart other instruments and trade the Sim101 account when connected to the other data providers.

NT8 platform; TDAmeritrade broker; and ONLY Kinetick end of day. Would it be possible to buy equities through the NT8 platform? This question should be clear.

Thanks for posting.

To clarify, in this situation would you be connected to TD Ameritrade but receiving no data from the connection? If so, this would not be possible. Kinetick (End of Day) only provides end of day data. To place trades, real time data would be required.
