Yes, this would be nice. Something along the lines of right-clicking on a price level, and choosing "add alert" and BAM! the alert is in place.

Yes - it is quite odd how difficult it is to add an alert in NT. While obviously not an urgent priority - simplifying this process to actually make it usable / quick / intuitive would be a nice plus for NT.
