Variable bar spacing

I am working on some indicators that vary the bar width based on Volume.

With current charting, the bar spacing is set to a fixed value. This results in a lot of wasted white space, see attached pic.

A Variable bar spacing would allow me to set a constant white space (but variable bar spacing), thereby getting more bars on the chart.
