Are there any changes coming in Ninja 8 for selecting colors ?

My thought would be a custom grid of perhaps 20 to 30 custom colors boxes where one could insert the RGB colors desired. There are too many color options now in Ninja and you often have to sort through a long list of colors you never use to find the color you want. This could be simplified and enhanced...any plans in the works in this area...??

Thank you for your note.

I'll forward your message to our Development Team.

NinjaTrader 7 comes with some of these color options by Default.

Please see the attached screen shot.

The colors are shown: Custom -> Web -> System -> Then RGB values.

When you select custom you have the 48 color grid and then 16 White rows.


Web shows a list of common web colors with their name.

The System tab shows colors that are set at the Windows System level.

Finally, you can type the manual R, G, B values into the color field.

These are based on a 0 - 255 scale, in my example I have 255 Red, 100 Green and 0 Blue which mixes to that orange color.

Another example would be if you set 0, 0, 0 this would be setting the Red, Green and Blue hues to Zero and you will get black.

You can use a site such as the one below to select a color and get the R, G, B values.

Is there a way to lock in custom RGB numbers in the Ninja Custom grid ?
Can the 16 white boxes be used for that ??
I would like to be able to lock in a number of custom RGB numbers in the Custom grid...can this be done at present ??....or can one revise and lock in any of the existing colors in the Custom grid ??

Also... it would be better to be able to customize the drop down lists in the Web and System tabs...there are just too many colors there that one never uses and some colors are duplicates. And be able to give colors your own custom name ...you wonder where some of these names come from...??

At this time the 16 White boxes cannot be changed to custom colors.

I'll forward your message for more color options with future versions of NinjaTrader.

Cameron....in my view one should be able to completely customize and save every box in the Custom grid with the specific RGB colors you want.

And be able to customize the drop down color lists....you just burn up a lot of time hunting through those extensive lists for a few favorite colors over & over again...

It is also worth mentioning, that if you know the color by name, you can Select the text and type the name and press enter.

Example - Select the Text in the Color field and type Red, Green, Black, White, Cyan, etc.

....one additional question on colors lists

One other thing...the drop down list for selecting the colors of draw objects is quite a bit different than the drop down color list options for indicators...ideally these should perhaps be the same ??

One more suggestion this area...

Suggestion...it could be good if one could copy the 3 digit RGB code directly from an RGB colors page and then paste this into the Ninja color line when selecting colors...as it is now when one right clicks on the Ninja color line to insert an RGB copied code...you get the message "Set Default For...."

You can copy, it just requires the hot keys.
CTRL+C for copy
CTRL+V for paste

OK...thanks !!...that works...you can also copy an RGB code by highlighting and right click to copy....then paste in Ninja with CTRL+V....

is there way to reset the memory on color marking charts,Mine seems to retain a prior color selection no matter what i do to reset it.

Thank you for your post.

Are you referring to the 'Custom' tab of the color selection menu like you would see when selecting an individual color property or are you asking about resetting the colors which are selected in the Properties or Data Series menu to their defaults?
