How about considering changing the way your zoom feature works. Most charting packages you just hold down the left mouse button and drag a square around the area you want to zoom in on.

In NT when you hold down the left mouse button you reposition the chart. Rarely do you need to reposition your chart as often as you want to zoom. I bet I zoom 50 to 1 versus repositioning. As a result, the constant clicking of the zoom button is annoying to accomplish this task.

Also, how about a hot key like ctrl + to zoom in and ctrl - to zoom out on the fly.
