Unfortunately this will not be possible, since major changes require:
    a) massive time to implement and test internally (obvisouly)
    b) massive time to beta test
    c) significant for users to adopt

The approach we're going is optimal to minimize effort not only on our end but also for our users.

That being said: If you check 6.5 release notes, you will see that we add (minor) features all the time.

Will there be any licensing changes? Any upgrade costs?

I'd really like to see all of the best features from all other charting programs implemented in NT7. To be frank, the only reason I haven't upgraded to the full version is as good as NT6.5 is I still find use for Quotetracker. It's all the little things that matter. For example. To add an underlying to a watchlist i.e.Market Analyzer in QT all I have to do is hit the 'insert button' and voila, a dialog comes up and its done. With NT I have to go through a myriad of unintuitive menu choices.
-Another is the sync chart feature I mentioned in a previous post.
-Another that QT is worth its weight in gold is the simple alert system. Setting up an underlying email alert is a breeze.
-QT is far less sluggish in its operation.
-I want to see the underlying data displayed at the top of the chart with the Name of the company, symbol, and OHLC.
-How about the ability to support Metastock data format.
-Make the interface more responsive and less sluggish.
-Make it so I am able to restore all open windows if I accidentely minimize them. As it is one has to restore each box separately.
-Provide monthly symbol updates for the database.

Eh, thats all for now lol. Keep up the great work though! Can't wait for 7.0.

                    What's in NT7

                    Hi,

I am a heavy user of NInja Trader and I think it is by far the best thing out there.

                    Major Benefits:

                    Event Driven Programming in C#
Ability To connect to Multiple back ends pipes
plus major benefits of other packaages that I don't list like charts, etc

I do have some things that I hope will be in your upcomming version. It is very hard to plan when I don't know what issues you will be addressing.

Not sure why you don't reach out to users like me to get input, as I have asked several times.

Anyway, here is some of the things I hope will be in this release:

                    User Interface:

                    1. Color Schemes for Charts, etc. What to easily change to black background for instance without spending hours getting it to look right.
                    2. Improved DOM, resizeable!!!!, hide controls, add Cumulative Graph of Vol at prrice on DOM
                    3. Maximize all windows
                    4. Historical support for VolumeProfile like QCharts
                    5. Select columns for Time and Sales

                    Data

                    1. Need Continuous contract support (what is there is painful)
                    2. Loading and Merging Histroical data is quirky and does not always work
                    3. Can't get index data like $Tick and Trin easily
                    4. Replay files needs to create a new day when you pass 12:00am

                    Connections

                    1. Multi-broker support is non-inuitive and hard to get to do what I want
                    2. Multi-Broker, should be able to select Broker (Connection) for Chart, DOM, STrategy, etc individualy
                    3. I want to feed/trade stock data from one souce and feed/trade futures data from another and forex from a third. It is impossible to get what I want today

                    Programmin/Strategies

                    1. Get Account Information within a Staregy Like PnL on the day for Account, etc from Broker. Now if I stop and start a straegy it does not know my daily PnL
                    2. Get all perf stats for day, week, month, etc easily
                    3. Access other charts symbols values

                    Backtesting/Optimatizations

1.Portfolio based (not single strategy) Backtesting and Opt
                    2. Strategy ANalyzer crashes frequently

There is more but these are the basics and I can tell you that if you use Ninja like I do these are issues that cause me difficulty on a daily basis.

Finally, I think you have done a great job and these are improvemnts to an already great product.

                    Mark

                          Hi guys

I am a new user of NT, have been testing it for about 6.5 weeks now and I think I am probably not the only one who is still using Ninja Trader because I can see it's great potential, I'm really hoping that NT7 lives up to that potential, my take on things is that the product has a bunch of really great ideas with unfortunately not the best implementation of some of them as it stands. There are various elements that are just absolutely frustrating to work with and hopefully these will be rectified in 7.

The recording saga is a nightmare, the ability to keep a computer connected to a live feed 24 hours a day is simply not practical, I now have 2 machines, one that was dedicated to this but still it just does not work. Trying to get a good continuous feed out of it is no easy task, at the moment I have a 3 day record over 6 weeks. Sometimes when I record for to long, my recording simply just will not replay, I'm not sure if some sort of corruption finds it's way into the data so I'm having to cut it to chunks now.

Trying to move back and forward between this recorded data with the manual scroll bar during either manual backtesting or electronic program testing is the bane of my life. For ideas on a really simple method for manual backtesting have a look at forex tester. Easily allows the import of historical 1minute bars, ticks are generated on 3 different algorithms of choice, movement back and forward between the candles is a breeze. A left and right arrow, one step at a time through the candles would be wonderful for those not to concerned with ticks.

There are a number of small quirks which I've found, my most recent one being last night, after weeks of sleepless nights and three systems that have gone up in smoke almost immediately compared to shining reviews by backtesting, I've come to realise that this is not because the market is behaving so differently from the passed but because NT is behaving so differently in the passed from what it does in the present. Please please please allow the ability to introduce a fixed spread into the backtest. The idea of adding slippage is not accurate and the solution of multiplying the number of trades by the spread and subtracting it from the result which I have read on this forum twice now is well.... I wont even bother to comment. My scalping system for example has a completely different result minus the spread compared to plus the spread, the spread changes the entire system as entries and exits are changed, turning a potential 80% win/loss ratio into a 72% win/loss ratio, that 8% is the difference between a hugely profitable system and a huge money burning machine. Subtracting the total spread from a profitable system that was profitable because the spread didn't exist in the first place is totally jaded.

I regularly talk in a trading room where a number of other users are using NT and one of there largest gripes is the inability to easily flick between different types of workspaces without having to go to the menu system and change it there. A fast bar on the charts would be great if you haven't already got something like that going and possibly something to open all windows at once.

Finally an issue that is more related to Gain users, is we are unable to get the daily historical bars, which effectively renders any indicators ATR(100) etc. commonly used in currency trading useless.

Don't get me wrong I may sound negative, probably because I haven't had enough sleep lately but this is a great product with the potential to be the best, I just really hope you guys have managed to address some of these issues so that NT can live up to it's potential.

                          Cheers
                          Ross

                            What's in NT7

                            Bertrand,

While I appreciate that you will send to developement, that could be a black hole.

Where are the strategic initives decided? I would assume management set's of strategic inititives for the company that then get filtered as specs and tactical plan for development. Perhaps development raises some issues back to management to see what will be in any given release but the primary drivers probably come from Management as strategic direction for the company.

                            My big issues are:

                            1. Where is the communication and feedback to serious users?
                            2. Why do I not know what's in NT 7 or what is targeted for the future
                            3. What is the direction NT is taking
                            4. Will any of my issues be addressed in this release
                            5. etc.

I think you need a non-development based communication with serious users where a dialog takes place regularly.....

                            Thanks.....

                              Hi Mark,

I can assure you that all suggestions and feedback make it to development and myself. In addition, I make it a point to stay on top of our support communications since this is also very helpful in understanding the requirements and challenges faced by our user community.

On the issue of forward looking statements of our direction and NT7, we will disclose specific details on what we have been labouring on for quite some time once I feel we are in a position to do so based on a variety of business reasons. As of this moment, we are working overtime to try and release a beta of NT7 by the end of this quarter. Thanks for understanding.

PS - I am the CEO of NinjaTrader.
