Watch for changes in the workspaces folder
If one copies a workspace .XML file into the Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 -> workspaces folder, it does not show up immediately in the Workspaces dropdown menu on Control Center until a restart. This is different than chart or indicator or strategy templates, which show up immediately. If you would watch for changes in that folder, you could reload that menu so that when a user copies in a workspace it shows up without restarting the platform. It's trivial to do. or even just a refresh button/option if not a FSW etc.

If this is not short-term achievable a refresh button as MicroTrends suggested would be helpful.

What happens so me is I'll copy in a workspace file into Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 -> workspaces (various reasons - may be trying to reproduce a client reported issue or copy over some work I did on another computer as I'm often working on multiple machines locally and over RDP and TeamViewer) but then it isn't in the list to open the workspace, so I have to restart the platform, which is not a light operation. And now, as of 8.1, I even have to sign in again every time. It's not the worst thing about NinjaTrader, but it is so easily fixable that I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed.

QuantKey_Bruce Here's a somewhat manual, but easily achievable workaround, no restart needed, 30 seconds at a pinch:- Create a new Workspace with the name you want
- Save it
- Close it
- Delete the relevant file
- Copy your desired file as that file's name
- Open that workspace -- good to go
