It would be helpful if the software installation kits for each release were named with the release number in the filename.

For example, the current release is 8.1.1.1, for which the name would be, for example, NinjaTrader.8.1.1.1.Install.msi. The 8.0.27.1 release, instead of being NinjaTrader.Install.Previous.msi would be NinjaTrader.8.0.27.1.Install.msi.

This prevents ambiguity and ensures that after any more than one release has been downloaded, it is clear which kit is for which release.

Not taking away at all from the request which makes sense - just chiming in that you can see which version it is in the file properties, Detail tab. This 57th subsequent installer download on this particular machine (I feel your pain with the version numbers) is 8.1.1.1 in the Comments below.

Thanks, QuantKey_Bruce. Yes, certainly one way to go when needing to be sure. Thanks too for your support for the improvement.

It is also of very substantial importance that NinjaTrader takes onboard comments about "hotfix" types of releases (or any release at all, for that matter) having unique version numbers. As I have spoken of in great detail elsewhere, this is just plain good IT Service Management practice.

I always add the version number to the .msi file name when saving. This way all the previous files are on my HD and that makes it easy to roll back.
